Well said!

I hope you're better soon.

Your statement though is really funny to me. I had the flu last year and I felt just the opposite honestly. Of course I also was in no condition or with any inclination or energy to get online.

It was horrible. But that's the only time I've had the flu in 36 years of no flu vax. So a worthwhile trade-off. But it certainly didn't feel that way at the time to me.

I hope you feel better soon! The last time I had the flu I was 15 and it was the sickest I have ever been. I still think the vax is silly though.

At least your flu germs don't come with a side of mercury.

Hope you feel better soon! I am in my mid-30's and think I have only gotten the true flu 5-6 times. The last time happened to be DS's first winter, we both got it. Oddly enough, we've had worse colds than that. I think we just lucked out. I took Tamiflu though, which I regret. Guess who felt the sickest in our house - yep, the one who got the flu shot (and still gets them ) I've had a few flu shots too (really regret the pregnancy one), luckily never got sick from them, and luckily I didn't have that many before I knew better!

We had the flu last year- all of us at once (I have 3 small children)- and although it was absolutely horrible, and my baby (then one year old) had secondary complications (a sinus infection), I would take flu over the vax any day.
But that said. . .I really hope we don't get it again!

I don't get a flu shot normally because I have very low risk of getting the flu, and an even lower risk of dying from it, but from having the flu if someone told me I could get the shot or get the flu, I would much much much rather get the shot.

I'm feeling almost human today! I actually spent over an hour out of bed this morning!

The way I see it...

I could have gotten the shot and gotten the flu anyway

or

I could have gotten the shot and not gotten the flu

or

I could have not gotten the shot and gotten the flu - which is what happened

but the results are what matter

With or without the flu - I'll be healthy again

With the shot - I would still be dealing with all the mercury, aluminum and other toxins (possibly on top of the actual illness) for who knows how long...I'll be back to normal in a few more days this way!

I said the same thing to myself this morning. I only have a cold right now, but thought "I'd rather get the straight up flu than the shot."

That said, I can't recall when I ever had the full-blown flu.

I'm curious how the flu is presenting this year? How is it presenting with you?

Well, first I was afraid I was gonna die...then I was afraid I wasn't!

No really though...I still feel like someone inflated a balloon in my head and that someone is standing on my chest. I'm weak...sitting up is still making me dizzy. Dh had to help me to the bathroom a few times this weekend. I'm starting to feel human again...just exhausted. I slept most of the weekend away with DH forcing liquids...I had no appetite at all...my throat is very sore I still have a splitting headache and swollen glands...I had a fever most of the weekend...cold sweats etc.

It was/is pretty aweful.

Thank you for your reply. I'm sorry your feeling so bad. I asked because we just visited family and got from them some sort of stomach bug. They kept calling it the flu, but my understanding is you don't usually throw up with the flu. I really hope your feeling better soon.

The flu is a respiratory virus. The only reason you would throw up is from coughing too much!

This reminds me of when a friend of mine was pregnant and her Midwives (CNMs working through and OB practice) recommended the flu shot because she didn't want to get vomiting and diarrhea and become dehydrated while she was pregnant. Fortunately, she was educated in the matter and after she stopped laughing at them, she quit the practice explaining that she couldn't trust them with her baby since they didn't even know what the flu was.
