Dry Skin

My baby has super dry skin. Is there anything I can do about this. i am mostly concerned about her face because I don't feel comfortable putting lotion there. She also had very sesitive skin when she was born. As in we could only use distilled water and special lentless wipe things to wash her face or she would break out.

Any suggestions?

My daughter also has very dry skin also, and in part I believe it's hereditary as both her father and I suffer from dry skin.

Since I began giving her a flax seed oil supplement, her condition seems to have improved quite a bit. I learned about the benefits of flax seed oil on another thread entitled 'Omega-3's' but had also read about it in the past.


There are a lot of very informed moms on this board and I'm sure you'll get plenty of advice here.

Have you tried putting lansinoh on it? My ds is also very prone and sensitive. I have tried lotions and they don't really seem to help. I've started smearing him with the lanolin right before bed and a few days of that really has improved his little cheeks and chin. You might give that a try. Test it on a small spot first to see if she would be sensitive to it. Good luck and if you come up with a good solution, please let us know.

Thanks for the ideas. I don't think I would be able to get anything past her mouth but have a ton of Lansinoh so I will try that first. Her ability to resist medicine, vitemins and herbs is really quite impressive. Even while she sleeps.
