Hey LadyinRed- If you say my post upthread, I was just diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. Obviously, being a member of MDC/NMY, having kids is really important to me and something I've been really looking forward to. I originally thought chemo was a sure death sentence for my eggs and my fertility, but apparently that isn't always the case.
The coolest resource I've found for young adults with cancer is
Fertile Hope. That site should answer most of the questions you might have. For guys, things are a billion times easier because it's so easy to collect and freeze sperm for later.
Also, I babysat for a family in which the dad had been diagnosed with colon cancer when their first child was 2 weeks old. When I began babysitting for them, their daughter was 3.5 and they had an adorable 6month old son who was naturally conceived after the dad finished his chemo.
Hopefully none of this info will be necessary and your partner will be ok. Feel free to get in touch with me though...I am still a cancer newbie, but I have learned a ton of stuff in the past few weeks. Best wishes!
