Check in here after the babe(ies) is born and fill out all that applied to your birth. I think I covered most things- that was the max number of options allowed for the poll!

Can't wait to see how everyone birthed!

What a goof! I thought this was what we are planning. Can I undo mine?

O, me too. I put what I have already had and what I was planning. Hope it holds................

What I was planning --- birth center, unmedicated, non-induced, midwife assisted

What I got - emergency transfer to hospital, unplanned c-section, lots of medications (but was off everything except blood pressure meds within 36 hours), midwife and doctor assisted and a 35 week preemie. Wooh, certainly not anticipated or expected!

Hey Moodyred it would be really interesting to do a "what you were planning" one of these and then do it again in a month after everyone has birthed. Since some have already filled it out with what they were planning, maybe edit this one to be "plans" and set up the same one for "what actually happened"?

I bumped the old birth plans thread we did towards the beginning (there aren't as many choices but don't think it matters that much) and changed the title of the new thread.

Hopefully it's a little more clear, sorry about that!

I had planned a MW assisted, unmedicated, planned home waterbirth.

I got a MW assisted, unmedicated, planned homebirth. I just wasn't pushing as effectively in water as I could on land so I got out of the water.

Ok, I just realized I didn't check unmedicated vaginal but figured it went without saying ...
but we planned an unassisted homebirth/waterbirth and that's what we got. :

I'm interested in who else had preemies and who had VBACs.

I planned an unmedicated hospital birth with a very midwife-y doctor. It was supposed to be my 2nd VBAC.

I ended up with preterm labor and PROM at 32+4, mag sulfate and steroids, then an unplanned c/s at 33+4 for surprise breech baby, after several hours of labor.

Mine was a VBAC. I had planned an unmedicated, midwife-assisted hospital birth - had to be induced though because of PROM which didn't kick in labour, so I accepted a shot of Diamorphine when the contractions started coming one on top of the other. Considering it was induced, I'm proud I made it through without an epidural! Still got to be midwife-assisted and still got a VBAC!

OK, well since I had planned a mw assisted birth and the mw didn't make it to the actual birth I selected both mw assisted and unassisted....if that makes sense. Irony is, she did come and see me and check on me and babe when my water broke early in the AM. But as my cervix wasn't anywhere near favorable and I wasn't in labor she left thinking she'd make it back later in the day. Of course, when labor did kick in it went SO quickly!

This was too fun a poll to pass up! I am due in February, but did my answers for my first two births- first was an unmedicated planned hospital vaginal birth with an OB and a doula, the second was an unmedicated planned home vaginal birth with a midwife and a doula!

Planning an unmedicated home vaginal birth with a midwife and a doula this time, though transfer to birth center or hospital is always a possibility.

I just think this thread is so interesting and wanted to push it up so all the new mommies could take the poll as well.

I kinda cheated and voted unmedicated vaginal, despite the shot of stadol I had. It took the edge off one single contraction before I was in transition, where I basically had a 10-minute long contraction and was begging for everyone to put me out of my misery. LOL

Oh, and that nice little resting period we supposedly get after transition before having to push? WHATEVER. I went straight from transition into pushing. No breaks. While I'm glad I had her fast, I could really have used a break, hehe.

Mine included a hospital transfer but that was AFTER the birth. I needed some tissue repairs that the MWs thought would be better handled by their backup OB. My babe was fine but we ended up letting them admit her too so as to not confuse the bureaucracy. I wanted her to room in and didn't want to have to explain what happened 1,000 times. (They were still kinda confused, though. lol)

We had planned on a midwife attended homebirth, but ended up with a UC, DH catching the baby

We planned a midwife assisted, birth center, unmedicated vaginal birth, and that's what we got! I did labor in the tub and almost had a water birth, but we didn't plan that so i didn't care it didn't happen

We had planned a UC, with a friend who is a student mimdwife around for support should we have needed it. I'm still processing things, but we did end up transfering as babe was a little off kilter and I wound up with involuntary pushing at only 9cms against an anterior cervical lip. So, hospital it was.
