Ideas for art supplies and jewelery supplies for my dd

My DD like myself likes to draw, paint and now wants to make jewelery.

She takes a painting class and loves it so I will buy her some new paintin supplies this xmas.

Also, she wants to get some jewelery or beads to make jewelery. All I have seen is some kits etc. Any ideas what I should get her?

For the jewelry making, you could buy her some

copper colored wire - 20 gauge. It's strong, yet flexible enough to bend.
narrow needle nose pliers (not the thicker ones), so you can make small loops at the end of the wire so the beads don't fall off.
Wire cutter (sometimes they are built in to the pliers)
Alpha beads, colored plastic faceted beads (those are pretty), other types of beads.

She can make rings, bracelets, and necklaces with these. Plus, she can make other sorts of wire/bead projects, not just jewelry. The copper wire doesn't tarnish.

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...winemakers.jpg (the first two are made with earring hoops but you'd need crimp beads and a crimper to keep the beads from falling off, the simpler one is the one on the end is made with copper wire - that is a beaded wine marker, but if you loop the end of one side through the loop of the other side, you can make a ring).

Even if you had to help make the loops at the end of the wire, it's great fun for them to add the beads. Just cut a the wire to different lengths, make loops in one end, and let her go.
