Is TTO safe to use on kids?

My 8 yo son has seborrheic dermatitis and I want to try something more natural than the Neutrogena T-Gel we've been using. He has one main area of flaking and his scalp itches sometimes. I read good reviews of Giovanni Triple Treat shampoo (it contains TTO), and I bought some TTO at the pharmacy that I intended to use as a spot treatment. The bottle of TTO says not to use it on kids. Is it safe to use? Where do I find usage/dosage instructions?

What other medicinal uses does TTO have?

TTO is a very strong oil which might trigger asthma in children.

It is not safe on infants- with older children you might try a VERY diluted version (like one drop in a glass of water)- but as it may trigger allergies I would not recommend it.

Really? My son has asthma and I avoid peppermint EO around him for that reason. I'd never heard that TTO can trigger it. What if I add some to the Triple Treat shampoo bottle? Does it help "cradle cap"?

Dilute oils in oil, not in water, they won't mix with water. Yeah for kids if you use TTO you should probably dilute, at age 8 not as needed as at 2 of course. Use olive oil, jojoba, almond, or grapeseed then mix in the TTO, only about a drop per oz of carrier oil if you need it for a small child. For adults and nearly grown kids you can use it straight in small, non sensitive areas. Just dab it on the skin daily to fight/prevent bacterial infection or fungus. I had it used on me as a child for warts, cleared them up over time including one on my eyelid (freezing treatment was not an option there).
