where to vacation with toddler in Hawaii?

I thought this may be the place to ask!

dh and I are thinking of a holiday this winter (jan or feb) with our dd (who would be 22-23 months then). We'd like to simplify and minimize the amount of car and air travel (we'd probably fly out of Spokane, WA...so I imagine there'd already be some sort of airport transfer).

Any suggestions on places to stay with gentle beaches for a toddler to explore? (we'd stay in same place for several nights, and just rent a car so we could do little day trips).

We'd like to stay away from the busy city and noises (we live in a very quiet part of the country), but not have too far to travel to get there.

Any suggestions would be appreciated - I really know nothing about Hawaii, but we thought it would be a safe, yet novel and tropical place to visit this winter!

Ko Olina has nice beaches for family. It has four lagoons, so the waves aren't big and scary for little ones. The beach at Turtle Bay is also VERY family-friendly and again, a lagoon so the waves are minimal. Turtle Bay is the farthest from the city - it's on the north shore and will probably take you about an hour from the airport if there's no traffic. Ko Olina would be about 45-50 minutes from the airport without traffic. Ko Olina is closer to a lot of cities and Turtle Bay is more in the countryside.

I've never stayed at any of the Ko Olina hotels, but Turtle Bay is an awesome resort. They also have a swimming pool. Both resorts are REALLY pricey, so if you're concerned about saving money, Waikiki might be a better choice, although I have no idea what the beaches there are like.
