I found this on making sage smudge sticks http://www.ehow.com/how_2062835_make...dge-stick.html
It looks ridiculously easy. In fact, if anybody is interested, next summer I can send anyone who wants some sage.

I am having a hard time today.

I couldnt sleep last night. i keep thinking about an argument i had with some pagans i know from another site. i just get so tired of people assuming something is true for all members of a religon b/c of one experience that they had. and nothing i have said has changed their minds or even got them to see what i was upset about. sigh. maybe i overreated in my response to the whole situation, but i was upset about it. i am still upset about it. i will be getting my sage out today and some oils. i need to clear this out of my house and off my mind. i think i will go to the library and stuff today. get out of the house and let the cool air wash away the hurt feelings. refresh myself. and then cancel my account on the other site.

Yes it was!! My DD was chattering away to Luna while I was explaining to DS about how planets go retrograde and he was asking if the moon ever did that, . Thankfully not!

the only sage i could find around here was loose leaf sage in the seasonings dept of the grocery store. i rolled it up like a cigarette and will try to see if that works. i was desperate to get it to stay lit enough to smudge something. lol.

Morning!

I am super tired this morning. It seems I am no longer allowed to sleep past 6:45 am thanks to Miss Salem waking me up. I could not fall back asleep and am now really exhausted and the cat is back to sleep : AF should be here soon. I was so hoping all this working out would shorten my cycles but, apparently not. I hope something like Vitex will help and that I won't have to do clomid.

I think I am going to do another small cleansing on my house. Its been about a month since the last one. I am sure it will help.

glad i got this site. i always love the convos here! everybody is always so nice and accepting. even when someone is harsh they have a good reason. apparently I got in trouble on the other site for speaking up. i should not let it bother me so much.

and I LOVE TAPPING. i dreamt about it last night (when i actually did sleep). i was doing it before bed, and did it when i woke up. and then was doing it in my sleep.

i dont see why not. i do it in a mister because i want to have intentionally clearing thoughts while misting the room. i like to get all the little corners and stuff.
i do it two ways A) soak sage and lemongrass in distilled, rain or plain water, for kinda awhile. until the scent is in the water. pour into mist. mist.
B) add lemongrass and sage essential oils to water and mister. mist.

Lionessmom- I made the smudgesticks, they are really really easy! i found it easier to tie off in the middle then work my way up and back, then up and back the other way to tie off again in the centre. I also did an experiment with some dried lavender to see if it would work and it went fine, a bit more brittle so it was a little harder, but still easy. Oh and be careful with the sage officialis, the sage you use for seasoning, apparently some people can have a bad reaction and it triggers asthma in a lot of people, if you have already tried it then it should be fine, the sage used for smudging genrally is white sage, you can also use silver wormwood, and different herbs. Most sites i read recomend that you just test in small amounts to see how you will react.

Good morning sisters! I cover my head as well! Have ever since I went to Haiti to study vodou. Well I covered my head before that but that is when I really connected it with any ritual activity. I'd post a picture but most pictures I post have me with a head covering.

Hope everyone has a good day today. We are going to put up lights & go to the Library today for crafts!

Happy December all!!

I was hoping that I would be able to keep up on the thread but you all are so talkative so I will just post an update for me.

As some of you may have read, I was planning a homebirth and just had a general bad experience with the hb midwife...so that left me with no hb options and I had to seek out someone else for prenatal care. It was the top thing on my list of priorities with everything I am dealing with. Yesterday was my D-day so to speak that I felt would determine just exactly how everything was going to play out. Yesterday was a good day.

I met with the hospital midwife, explained my situation and they are going to help me as much as they can. I am uninsured () but they will be giving me a huge discount on their services and a manageable payment plan, so financially this won't break the bank for us. Best part is that she is really nice and I feel a thousand times more comfortable with the new midwife than I ever did with the hb one, but now I will be birthing in a hospital (though as far as hospitals go, this one is quite nice). She really seemed to care about what I was going through and even though it was a consultation I really felt the emotional support that I so desperately need right now that the first midwife just could not or would not offer.

I am just so happy right now as it seems that everything (at least with this issue) is working out better than I expected and it is such a huge relief to not have to worry about it anymore. I'll admit though that there is still a part of me that is waiting for that proverbial "other shoe" to drop as all things seems to be going remarkably well right now.

I am even getting a huge discount on the ultrasound and they will waive the appointment fee for that day too...which will be on the 18th!! DH is much more comfortable with things as well so altogther it seems like a very win-win situation for me.

So, I just wanted to let you all know. Thanks for all the support and help. Now, just got to start focusing on all those other issues we have going on

Take care all.

Oh yeah....yay for snow!! We had our first snowfall yesterday!! I Winter....

Oh for goodness sake.. ya know in any other field if your appt was running 2hours late there would be some serious butt kissing coming your way.. but doctors (I've worked with them and yeah, sometimes that 30minute wait time after your appt IS just having a posh morning tea with the drug reps When my little dude had to have his surgery, his dentist told him he got to pick a dino prize out of the bucket... every doctor should have to have a bucket o prizes for kids I think. I wish I had some *real* suggestions hun

Good morning mamas : I am on the rebound from my hideous day the other day.. slept much better last night even. Part of my therapy was cutting out many small felt circles for that cute garland on the solstice thread while watching the West Wing Nothin like a little Sam and Josh to cheer a girl up I'm impatiently waiting for dh's pay to hit the bank so I can take the kids out to buy a new Christmas tree, we donated ours to a small shelter last year so I hope the patrons there are enjoying a little Christmas spirit this year. We also need to hit the garden centre but that'll have to wait till hubs is home with the van because my little kia rio doesn't do so well with big bags of dirt

That's awesome Try not to worry about being in a hospital...while it might not be your ideal, the fact that you are having a MW for your birth cuts way down on your interventions right off the bat. I had MW's for my 3 little ones and they were FABULOUS (all in hospitals due to vbac issues) so I hope that yours can help you have a great experience

heh, heh, heh. converts!

a dream about tapping! that's *awesome*!

ahhh, yes, excellent therapy! mine's been sneaking a page or two of LOTR. <wink>

ok, i need to go find that garland idea! i made a leaf one for fall, and wanted to make a holly one for yule, but.... this is really lame, but the green felt got in my crafting box which has magically from whence i know not decided to started smelling like my mystery pregnancy aversion smell.... the weirdness never ends, i tell ya!

cheers and happy tuesday eve! aka waxing crescent 5 1/4 days moon! aka ... mmmm. something. oh! i did put the fake greenery garland out on the mantle, and i had this amazing red candle from clearence last winter, and it looks very medieval. cant wait to light it!

ohhh, i know what i wanted to share! along the lines of the intentional/protective adornments concept... i started wearing my easy embrodery floss anklets (even have one as a bracelet right now, which is odd, as usually i'm too ticklish on my wrist) when i know something ... problematic... is coming. then, when i've made it thru, i cut it off and BURN it! haha! feels very cleansing. i am finding i have to keep coming up with new tricks, lol, and this one is fun. esp if one likes fire.... <evil flaming grin here>

nite nite! (or good morning, lol....)

Evening All.

Its been quite today.

I had a blah day today. I have some work to do on myself and I realize this, it just sucks not having IRL people around anymore to help. Its at times like these that I really need my DH and he is so far away on a mission for days.

Stupid AF still isn't here, I guess I am not working out enough to make my cycles shorter. At least all the working out is keeping the really bad depression away. I think what I have is mostly really bad cabin fever and when I get like this I can't be around people cause I will drag them down.

I am going to get through this, just like I always have and am so thankful that I have you guys. Even if you live in my computer.

Stopping by been busy today. They installed our pellet stove today. I cam home to a house that was easily 68-70 degrees and it felt like a suana. *laughs* The girls and I tend to keep the house pretty cool, like 62-64 cause they moove and groove and are always warm.
