So the second house we saw tonight was MUCH better. Mick wasn't thrilled, but I liked it and the kids are enchanted. I'm to call tomorrow evening to confirm the price as the guy who showed us the house thinks the ad might have been wrong, that the price is actually almost $1300 per month. He's going to call the owner and I'm calling him tomorrow. IF the price is the lower figure {close to $1100, but not quite} we're going to apply. If it's the higher figure, no way.
I really like this house. It's large, very large. NO carpets upstairs at all ~ all pergo or linoleum. I hate carpets with kids, so that's awesome. It has a fully finished basement ~ it's actually able to be divided into a basement apartment ~ it has a full bedroom, a family room, a full bathroom and a little kitchenette. No stove or fridge, but room for both so we could put in a microwave and mini fridge and turn the downstairs into a big family area. Plenty of space down there for a sewing station, all the kids toys and a small sofa. Big living room, lots of space for a birthing pool! Big dine in kitchen, TONS of cabinet and counter space. The cabinet space sold me. It has a large front porch with plenty of room for a porch swing and a large deck in the back which they're planning to completely rebuild, lots of room for summer barbeques. I can easily picture us living in this house and having little parties there.
The downsides are that Mick doesn't like the place ~ he is a former carpenter and he said the house needs some work. The floors bugged him ~ the pergo isn't flush with the hardwood under in the hall due to a step down that they tried to compensate for, which makes the floor feel a little odd under foot in that area. It bothered M a lot. One close had a hole in the floor, he said. He does not like the yard ~ unfenced large front yard which needs a lot of TLC and work, tiny fenced backyard which looks more like a chicken run {but I say it's the perfect size to let Ali and Ana play in, put in a Little Tykes play house and a sandbox and they'll be thrilled}. The washer and dryer go in what looks like a storage shed off the deck, so we have to go outside to a seperate area to do laundry. The house is in Orchards, not terribly far out but not on the bus line.
So anyway, I'M going to be sad if the price is the higher figure, but M will be happy to keep looking. We're going to check out a house in Washougal later in the week and hope to check out the one near Allison tomorrow when he gets home from work. We're still looking, but I liked this house.
I ate a hot dog from Costco and forced down some popcorn today. Blech. I've lost more weight. I think that once we're done with this move maybe I'll start improving.
