Can't believe I almost missed this! I also can't believe it's my turn - when we signed up this week seemed like it would never arrive, and then, here we are. Crazy.
music - I really like folk, have an unfortunate affinity for the bagpipes (hey, I'm from the Maritimes!), but like most anything that doesn't involve screaming.
animal - that would be a toss up. Horse? Goat? Cat? Sea Turtles rank up there too
flower - calla lily
color - yellow, but a warm shade of yellow, not playground slide yellow or greenish yellows
food - hmm. Probably Indian, in terms of category.
beverage - really lemony lemonade, or apple cider
hobby - skijoring (winter), paddling (summer), reading ranks up there too...
What did you want to be when you grew up?
A doctor, specifically, a pediatrician. Instead, I wound up with a degree in the humanities and then went in to midwifery. And am perfectly happy.
What kind of goals do you have for your future?
Finish my midwifery degree, and practice in a way that is kind to my family. Have a plot of land and a small house and fill it with happy, learning children. Grow good food. Drink tea and have good conversations with solid friends. Spend time outside. Probably have a sled dog team, because that's my partner's dream.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
San Cristobal, Mexico, or Halifax, NS (neither of which really lend themselves to dog teams!)
How did you end up where you are at? (northern Canada, right?)
My partner responded to a job ad and got an interview, at which point they told him, "You know our office is in the Arctic, right?". Yeah, no, not really. But, it seemed like the right time to go on an adventure, so I took some time off school and we came up here. We've learned a lot, and had some pretty neat experiences.
How's your body holding up? What week are you now?
The body is not holding up as well as I would like, but overall I do feel fairly good. 38 weeks, and very much eager to meet this little person!
Any projects you're working on that you'd like to share?
I'm just trying to finish up a biology course, and tie up some loose ends at work. Nothing very exciting. Certainly not painting my ceilings or writing novels, or other such ambitious projects, like some of you guys!
