I noticed you already have 2 girls and are having your 3rd at home. Just like me! lol When are you due? I am this saturday. Are you nervous about this being your 1st HB? I am somewhat but ready to give it a shot. Are your girls planning on being involved with the birth? Mine are

Oh and is this one a boy or girl or surprise? We are *suppose* to be having a boy. lol We'll see soon enough! haha

Hi!!

I didn't realize we have so much in common, though I have been following your posts. ;0)

I am due 12/11, so that's next Thursday. Well, my midwife officially has in my chart 12/5-12/11 because there is some discrepancy, but I'm quite sure 12/11 is more accurate, so that's what I'm going by.

I'm not too nervous about the home birth, but that's because I'm a doula and I've been to several, with my own midwife. I am so glad to have a really experienced, reassuring, down-to-earth midwife. She is the only home birth midwife in our area, so it's great that she just happens to be awesome.

Officially, we don't know whether we're having a boy or a girl. I almost didn't get an ultrasound at all, but then decided to get one because of my history of fibroids - I wanted to see what was going on with that (nothing major, it turns out). But I didn't want the full scan of the fetus or to find out the sex. Unfortunately, there was this big fiasco with the first (hospital based) place I went for an ultrasound. The tech started the scan, knowing that I didn't want to know the sex, and almost immediately went without warning to "that area" (she was looking at the femur for dating purposes) and I think I know we're having a boy. Then one of her superiors came in and said they wouldn't complete the scan if I refused the full scan. So I had to leave without knowing about my fibroid situation and having seen what I suspected to be boy parts. I was livid. Anyway, I digress. A week later I went to an independent place and they were great.

My girlies (Téa, 7, and Brynn, who will be 5 12/31) are planning to be at the birth. I have a support person lined up for each of them. Téa was a bit offended that I thought she should have a support person. She thinks she's a little doula and that she knows exactly what to expect from reading books and watching videos. I'm sure she'll do fine, but she's pretty intense and emotional, and I think I will need someone to manage her - she might try to help just a little too much! What are your strategies with your girls?

I was also reading your comments about baby's position. (That was you, right?) My babe flip-flops from OP to ROT to LOA on a regular basis too. I think it may just be a third-timer thing - baby has lots of room in there. What do you think?

OK, I'm up way too late. Just got done with a soak in the tub - I'm hoping it will help with the SI joint trouble I'm having. I saw a chiro today and will see him again Thursday along with a massage therapist. I hope you don't have that in common with me too - it's pretty awful!

Thats neat. My hubby is a chiro so I've been getting treated for ages. lol Although he has doing the webster a ton more this pregnancy (per midwife) and this is the only darn baby to be malpositioned! : She actually isn't certain baby is posterior, she has just felt a couple of times and says it could end up being.......so who knows. I go on thursday and hope she can tell better. She said I have lots of fluid and baby does do a lot of flip flops (but past couple of days that seems to be less! YIKES its almost time!). My girls are 5(in august) and will be 4(end of feb). I HAD someone, non family, that was to be their support person but they have since backed out. So my mom, friend etc... will pitch in with them. My MW has 2 assistants and my hubby will be there so we *should* be ok. They seem to be well prepared and know what to expect but during it all who knows how they'll do.

I am somewhat nervous about it all. The unknown kills me. How much pain what I can tolerate etc... scares me. But I know I can do it and I'm just going to go with the flow and try and stay relaxed as much as possible. I also worry things might be wrong or go wrong type of thing, but I assume that is totally normal. I just can't believe I'm actually about to birth in my bath tub. LMAO!!!!!!!!

I'll keep you informed and you the same. Best of luck to us!!!!!!!! ELVS!!!!!!!

Hi there Munki'smom...

Just checking in to see how you're doing! I hope all works out well with your kids being there and everything.

As far as all the unknown stuff, the childbirth educator in me says, "Relax. Trust your body. Do some guided visualization - picture the outcome you want." The about-to-birth mother in me says, IKWYM! ;-D Personally, I'm not concerned about how much I can handle (both of my girls had about as close to a home birth as you can get in a hospital), but of course the possibility of something going wrong sometimes hangs out in the back of my mind. When I really think about it, though, and analyze those fears, I realize that my midwife is more qualified to handle most of the situations that could arise than most in-hospital care providers, and we are not far from a hospital if we need one.

Anyway, thinking about you - keep us posted!

Thank you I had my 40 week appt yesterday and I'm still 2cm and 50% effaced. : Was sure hoping I'd be like an 8 by now. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! No posterior (still not sure why she ever said that in the first place). Head is still floating, so who knows. I'm ready to tackle this and I feel NOTHING to make me think its anytime soon. lol I'll keep ya informed. Thanks for the positive thoughts :

Any news on you? You are due right behind me! You might just beat me to it. LOL!!!
