Hi!!
I didn't realize we have so much in common, though I have been following your posts. ;0)
I am due 12/11, so that's next Thursday. Well, my midwife officially has in my chart 12/5-12/11 because there is some discrepancy, but I'm quite sure 12/11 is more accurate, so that's what I'm going by.
I'm not too nervous about the home birth, but that's because I'm a doula and I've been to several, with my own midwife. I am so glad to have a really experienced, reassuring, down-to-earth midwife. She is the only home birth midwife in our area, so it's great that she just happens to be awesome.
Officially, we don't know whether we're having a boy or a girl. I almost didn't get an ultrasound at all, but then decided to get one because of my history of fibroids - I wanted to see what was going on with that (nothing major, it turns out). But I didn't want the full scan of the fetus or to find out the sex. Unfortunately, there was this big fiasco with the first (hospital based) place I went for an ultrasound. The tech started the scan, knowing that I didn't want to know the sex, and almost immediately went without warning to "that area" (she was looking at the femur for dating purposes) and I think I know we're having a boy. Then one of her superiors came in and said they wouldn't complete the scan if I refused the full scan. So I had to leave without knowing about my fibroid situation and having seen what I suspected to be boy parts. I was livid. Anyway, I digress. A week later I went to an independent place and they were great.
My girlies (Téa, 7, and Brynn, who will be 5 12/31) are planning to be at the birth. I have a support person lined up for each of them. Téa was a bit offended that I thought she should have a support person. She thinks she's a little doula and that she knows exactly what to expect from reading books and watching videos. I'm sure she'll do fine, but she's pretty intense and emotional, and I think I will need someone to manage her - she might try to help just a little too much! What are your strategies with your girls?
I was also reading your comments about baby's position. (That was you, right?) My babe flip-flops from OP to ROT to LOA on a regular basis too. I think it may just be a third-timer thing - baby has lots of room in there. What do you think?
OK, I'm up way too late. Just got done with a soak in the tub - I'm hoping it will help with the SI joint trouble I'm having. I saw a chiro today and will see him again Thursday along with a massage therapist. I hope you don't have that in common with me too - it's pretty awful!
