Sept. 2007 - Happy Holidays! - Page 6

::::
I ordered some stuff from a catalog for Christmas. I told them they need to put *both* my PO Box *and* my street address on it. But noooo, they know better than me apparently. So they shipped FedEx to my street address only. Fine. EXCEPT, FedEx is now in partnership with the PO so my package with ONLY MY STREET ADDRESS is at the PO. So now I have to go to the PO and try and track it down (well, I'm actually sending dh). The second package (which was backordered, so shipped later) has actually been SENT BACK TO THE COMPANY! And the company tries to pin it on me, or the PO, or anybody but themselves. WHEN I TELL YOU TO PUT BOTH ADDRESSES ON THERE -LISTEN TO ME!! THERE'S PROBABLY A GOOD REASON I'M SAYING IT!! DON'T THINK YOU KNOW BETTER THAN ME BECAUSE YOU DON'T!!!
and a few more for good measure. You know, it's kinda therapeutic to virtually bang someone on the head with a hammer :

And, my plan for the rest of the day:
: :

what i really want is:
and (without the kid)

I've been having a miserable couple of days. Lucy has slept really, really terribly the past two nights--and for her, "good" is 2 hours in between nursing sessions! Our TTC plans are sort of up in the air now, no idea what's going to happen, and I'm sure the lack of sleep and excess misery isn't helping me think positively this week. I'm just feeling like the obstacles are too numerous at the moment.

Lucy's still not walking consistently, though she does seem to be taking steps with greater frequency. I've been sick for the past week and I think she caught it and had a sore throat, so she's barely been eating and has turned into a little clingmonster. She had been saying "hi" in the past, but is really using it a lot all the sudden--whenever someone walks in, when she opens the baby gate (joy of joys), when she's refusing to settle down to nurse to sleep at night and pops up and sees my grumpy face. It's hysterical, the way she says it. I'm trying to get a video. It's like this chirpy little "Hiiiiii!" She's giving hugs and kisses like never before and is an all around love, even when we're both miserable.

Has anyone heard from mrsb lately? Her last post was three weeks ago on the November thread. I hope she's okay.

ils are here ......

Sick here. Kids have coughs, I feel flu-like and awful. Judah's sleep has been awful the past few nights. Then when he finally slept, I slept so well I didn't hear the alarm and was seriously late for church this morning - when I had something I was supposed to help with early!

Anyway, dragging myself off to DS1's Christmas musical tonight. He's in the choir this year for the first time and he's VERY excited. Then it's time to bake cookies all week to send to family, and get ready for more ILs to come in. Yikes. Hopefully this is a short-lived virus, 'cause I feel awful!

Oh and we did Christmas pics! Here's one of just Judah:

And here are the three boys in the "official" picture:

Now if the cards will get here in time to ship out again, I'll be happy.

I have no idea where I have been. Off in lala land apparently. Awww Dahlia and Dh are dancing together. :

Our tree is up with lights and ornaments. I love it and it looks amazing. We celebrate the Solstice. It should snow here in the next couple days. It snowed this morning but nothing stuck. The kids can't wait for snow.

My dh had it all planned to get his mom in California because she cleared the waitlist of the independent living facility but she refused. I am relieved that he doesn't have to travel over the Solstice but sad that she is not accepting our help.

Kaija is doing great with her jumbo baby. He is already up past 13lbs at 5 weeks. We are all starting to settle into our new roles. He is a really happy baby and loves to smile. I just adore him.

Co-ops are coming along. I have two here to sort and send and then the last one coming this week. I have a few things to get for the older kids and I am done with my shopping. I gave myself permission to not send out cards this year or do it later. We'll see what happens.

Sending everyone lots of and :

Wendi

So this was my weekend to bake cookies and send out to family. I remember it being somewhat difficult last year with a new babe and all. Silly me...I thought it would be easier with a mobile babe this year....ugh. What I had for most of the weekend was a clingy babe that did not what her feet to hit the floor. Needless to say my cookies did not get done and I do not foresee when they will get done in the next week.

Heather-I hope you are feeling better quickly. The virus hit us and Lucy was down for almost a week, but I was icky for only about a day and half.

Wendi-good for you giving yourself permission not to send out cards this year....I should have given myself permission not to make the cookies this year....but sisters were already calling asking where they were.

Ishy-: Sleep vibes to Lucy.

Jeanine-Hope you packages can be rerouted without too much trouble. Isn't it great when people think they know better then you and that you are talking just for your health. LOL. I agree

Anyone else dealing with scratching/and or hitting? Lucy has really started doing this and seems to be out of frustration. I just keep trying to redirect....but ouch...my face is starting to look like I have been in a catfight.

Anyone out there giving a multi-vitamin to your babe? If so, which one? I don't anticipate giving her one until she weans, but ped talked about it at last visit and Mom is bugging me about it so I thought I would so some research.

Yes! I notice it's when she is frustrated, too. She will "claw" at my face or slap me but gets a look of "uh oh! what happens now?" on her face.

She ran up to a friend of mine the other day and PUNCHED her right in the jaw. My friend goes "OH MY GOD!" and we couldn't stop laughing. Aiyana was laughing, too, but I don't want her thinking hitting is funny..........eh. She'll grow out of it

Great news! I finally got my exam results (from our trip to DC in October)--I passed! I'm now officially a TCRG...which doesn't mean much, since I'm not teaching, but it means I'm certified to teach Irish dancing and my students could compete. : I don't know if/when I'll start teaching, but it leaves me the possibility open for the future. YAY!!!

Ishy-Congrats on passing the test!!!

Jazzy-Aiy is precious and I love the expression on her face in the last pic.

It is too ::: here. I know there are plenty of you all that get the really cold weather, but I don't like it this cold.....I mean I live in Texas for a reason

I hope mrsb is lurking and will come say hello soon.

Linus is walking about like Lucy it sounds. He can do it and he is so proud of himself but he does not feel like he needs to stop crawling anytime soon.

So sorry the mil is still being difficult.

: for Kaija and her big boy.

Please stay out of la-la land.

To say I am stalking fedex and ups and usps would be an understatement. I have just fil and my mother left to finish. I went to order my mom some smart wool and I think I ordered some bras for me instead. :

As to cards, think about Valentine's Day. Things are less crazy and little love note in the mail in the middle of winter so brightens a day.

no multi-vitamin here. I would seriously think about the amount of vitamin D and remember they can do a quick check on the iron levels. Is there something specific you think she might be lacking? It seems to me that all the multis are made by formula companies. They will make us doubt ourselves and take our money one way or the other.

I have been out with the stomach flu. Luckily nobody else had gotten it yet but it was awful. If only I could have slept but it was coming out both ends and dh was struggling with the kids. I had the back room gated off because I had a holiday and construction mess going. He took the gate down and Charlotte used 3 books of stamps as stickers. Luckily the hole to the crawl space was covered and nobody used the toilet sitting in the middle of the great room.

Well, I am back among the living and trying to catch up. Bread dough rising, granola cooling, stalking of delivery men, mdcing , I have so much to do. Not to mention hoemschooling and other parenting related things.

Tomorrow is dh's 40,000 mile check up. I am a bit nervous. He looks young (enough), slim and healthy but his family history is not great and he hasn't been to the doctor since elementary school unless you count the campus nurse for strep throat in 2003.

ishy - congrats!! that's awesome!!!

i too am stalking delivery people. my packages that the ua violations sent to my wrong address were returned to the company because, guess what? the PO can't deliver to my home address, just like i told them! so i called them up on friday and they said they'd reship to the PO Box. it will take 7 -10 business days. i pointed out that 10 days would be too late. like she didn't already know that . so now they're supposedly shipping it express. but they haven't let me know if they have in fact done that. they're really making me . i'm going to call them *again* today to see what, if anything's, going on. luckily there's no santa gifts in there, just stuff from dh and i, so if it *is* late it's not *really* a big deal. the ils were here this weekend and delivered presents, so they have stuff to open. i could always make these into easter presents, too. but, i ordered this stuff on nov 22 - plenty of time right? stupid ua violations!

other than that - homeschooling. planning a solstice dinner for next weekend. go to town in our two feet of new snow to go grocery shopping. and i have lots of work to do to get dh's business stuff in order for our accountant. apparently she doesn't like my creative accounting, so there's stuff i have to fix

oh, and i have a yeast infection, too. i should probably stop eating all the fudge dh made, but, uh, not gonna happen

Lentil soup is on the warmer waiting for dinner time.

Somebody does not love me. I rec'd a giant box of whitman's sampler and a subscription to good housekeeping mag. Any guesses as to who would do that?
what's wrong with that gift? eating chocolate while sitting and *reading* about housekeeping instead of *doing* housekeeping?

You're right. I'd rather have a different magazine and chocolate and be in a clean house but I'll take what I can get.

My in-laws always tend to give a thoughtful gift that is just a little bit off and I am too picky. BTW I found the fleece jacket they gave my then 9 yo daughter for her birthday at REI for way too much $$$. She is about to outgrow youth xl and I wear an adult small (medium for length) so soon we will have tons of nice clothes.

My grandmother-in-law gave me a subscription to Good Housekeeping last year. Not my fave, but its one of her favorite magazines, so she thought I would like it. I wish I got chocolate too!

ishy, congrats on the exam!

I love all the pics. Its amazing how big our boys and girls are now.

Took Aili for her 15 month app't on Monday. She's 22 lbs and they measured her laying down at 32 inches. She stands quite well on her own now; I don't know why they didn't measure her standing. I checked her standing height before we left the office and it was closer to 30 inches! It was a bad weekend for her. Poor little girl wasn't looking where she was going, fell and bruised her cheek on the edge of the bathroom door (then it took me a couple of hours to remember where I put the arnica) and then she got her very first shot on Mon. She just cried and kept her eyes on the nurse until the nurse left the exam room.

I've been kind of concerned about vit D levels too, not too concerned about the other vits and minerals. We didn't spend tons of time in the sun during the summer and now its windy, wintry weather. I am contemplating trying to give her cod liver oil (of course getting her to actually swallow the CLO may be difficult). She has just started taking D-supplemented goat's milk in addition to breastmilk, but she doesn't drink much goat's milk every day.
