Why does the Diva Cup suddenly hurt?

This is the first cycle using the Diva cup. I used it all day yesterday with no problems. I loved it. It worked great. The first time in years my cycle was managable.. No issues inserting or removing.

Today, it hurts.. I put it in, not high up, and it hurts.. I take it out and it hurts.. I must have done something wrong.. Has this happened to anyone else?

The stem is nicely trimmed and worked great yesterday. This am I had some trouble with getting it to open up..was wiggling and working it around a bit.. maybe I did something??

eta: It's like a pain in my tailbone.. and the suction seems to make it worse.. what did I do?

I've had this happen. I've been using the DivaCup for 9 cycles now (bush camping and all too, even on my wedding day with no issues of leak). This is the second day of your cycle, were you ever sensitive during a cycle in the past (to touch, tampons, ect). Could be hormone related swelling that makes you sensitive?

Sometimes I have an issue with it popping open too, I also have a tipped uterus and I find it more difficult to find the right angle to insert the cup. I have to wiggle it around a bit and then I find I'm sensitive for a bit afterward.

Do you have the right size of the cup? There's two sizes, you may have a cup too large?

I'm pretty sure I have the right size.. I think I probably bruised something.. trying to get it open. I hope it's just that as I love it and would hate to not be able to use it anymore

During your period the cervix typically moves lower. I poked mine once by accident and not only it hurt, but made me feel really nauseous for the next hour or so. I also did something similar by pulling it out without releasing the suction, yowza!

I would probably suggest giving it a break (use pads if you can instead of tampons so whatever is sore can get back to normal) and try again in a day or so.

: I've done that (the bold part), and yeowch!!! That does hurt - I didn't think of that earlier and more than likely that is exactly what happened for OP.

I've had that happen (still do sometimes, and I've used the DC before and after my last 2 kids), and I figured out that I was probably hitting my cervix. Try to tip it more towards your back, that should help.
