In that you-forget-how-painful-it-really-is-until-it's-too-late-to-back-out way?

Congrats on taking the plunge (again) to you and HBM!

OK, so dh calls last night from NC where he is for work, and bellyaches about his takeoff and landing on the plane. (Like how awful they were due to weather, blah blah blah...) and he's all waah on the phone with his poor me attitude. OK, so can I for a minute? I drove my tiny car over barely-plowed roads at 4AM and then back, to drop him off. Then I drove my two kids in over still-snowy roads at 7:35, in full-on stupid-people-getting-to-work traffic, and a 15-minute drive took 40. Shall we discuss the relative dangers of driving in a car in the first snow of the season vs. air travel? :
OK, I'm done now. Thanks.
Seriously! And you know he slept on the plane! and

So it's not looking up for much more running, well maybe tomorrow. We did a tiny bit of sledding yesterday but the dds don't have the right hand and feet gear so they froze really quickly. Tonight we're going skiing with them although I can't quite picture how it's going to be with Alison unless they rent sleds or something? Anyway, we've got to gear them up before we go. But it is a gorgeous day here so I should get dressed and get started :

Mandy - Yeah, competitive yoga sounds wrong.

mommajb - fwiw, I start getting little niggles like that right around 250 miles. If I'm lucky I'll make it to 300 miles on a shoe. I don't know what the deal is with that, but maybe you're the same?
cornflake - Thanks for saying I am not crazy for thinking about the miles on the shoes. I don't want it to be true - I am spending my money other places this month. My brother was teasing me about running being ,more expensive than driving a car.

Enjoy your day Jenolove.

I am off to window shop running tights.

The repair man just left after looking at our failing oven. It's going to cost over $500 to fix it. I though for that much we might as well just buy a new one, right? Oh no, a new one is freaking $2,000. All because it's in our island and has to be self-ventilating. : I actually feel sick to my stomach over this.

Mandy, did you get mine? I emailed you.

HBM~ sorry about your oven!! We went without a working oven for almost a year to save up for a new one. then our dryer broke a month later. Then our hot water heater.

RR: Ran a great 6 miles this morning, speed kept getting faster and faster just to run at a comfortable pace. I did crank it up for the last half mile to simulate a kick finish and had no breathing troubles. I feel energized.

After a year of health issues one right after another, I'm feeling like me again. ahhhhhh.

Push ups~ 120 today, vegan and mamajb??? you with me?

love to you ladies.

HBM~I feel so badly for the neighbor with the car through her house. Hope she is taken care of with place to stay etc. Been thinking about her and the people that crashed the car.

Thanks for the oven commiseration. I posted something about it on Facebook and a girl I went to high school with told me to call her husband who does oven repair. He's on his way over now and hopefully will give us a better quote. :

Lisa, I am so happy that you feel well. :

HBM! And wow again on the marathon. I know it was in the plans but signing up and announcing so close to your half. Way to keep the momentum going. If racing is like childbirth this must be like getting pregnant while you have an infant.

HBM ~ Good luck with that oven of yours! I hope you get a cheaper quote.

I just got a ring sling in the mail from a friend of mine on LJ. She made it and it's gorgeous. And it's in colors James will wear. Whoever was talking about "imaginary online friends" this past week... it's hitting me again how REAL my online friends are. I am so blessed to be friends with all of you! Sending to the Dingos because without you I wouldn't know about half of this wonderful attachment parenting goodness. :

High school friend's dh can fix it for a little over half of what the other guy quoted!!!!! And dh found a dollar in the parking lot. Things are looking up.

Mommajb-A figure I'm halfway there, I might as well go ahead and do it, you know? Of course I haven't actually run since the half, so I need to get myself in gear and go.

Mommabelle-What time will you be over this way tomorrow? What time on Saturday?

Atl Dingos...sending you email

tjsmama..glad you slept last night!!!

HBM..our oven blew out using the self clean..if any of you have Whirlpool ovens..be careful using self clean. We have a double oven, so we are just using the other one right now! I might need to call your friends dh too, at some point...the point at which we have the money to fix it!

I work with an Ethiopian lady (she's one of the nice people at work and so we talk a fair bit..she's still learning English) and this morning she came straight over to me and said "I want run with you!" I said "Ok!". She ran with me at lunch and said she wants to run everyday until Christmas! Looks like I will be getting my runs in at lunch. It was freezing today. I think I need to get some gloves. Maybe I need two shirts and a vest? I was wearing one long sleeve tech shirt and a vest.

I. Don't. Have. Time. For. This.

I need a new sitter. : Mine failed to show up to pick up DD today, so DD's teacher called me at work. The blessed teacher walked her over to the afterschool program to go check it out, and then stayed with DD until I got there. DH called the afterschool program while I was driving to get DD and she's now first on the waiting list (up from 5th the day before school started). Lord of the Flies afterschool program is starting to look pretty good.

Geo, that super-stinks.

Mommabelle-I'll be glad to pass on his name and number. He's a super nice guy and just went into business for himself. I didn't receive an email from you. Do you have my new email address?
HBM ~ that's awesome that your high school friend's DH can do it and for much cheaper!

JenLove ~ pics of your gorgeous ring sling, please?!? I love love looking at baby things.

Geofizz ~ hope you can find a sitter soon, or that the afterschool program works out!

I love this multi quote feature since I can click it, completely leave the site and come back and the things I wanted to quote/remember are still clicked!

No run today, was just way too stressed and tired which probably means I should have gone. I have a group presentation in 2 days and I don't know what kind of work my partner has done yet. Also have to go to an ASL class dinner tonight which I am not looking forward too, just don't feel like going back to campus at all.
Ugh, Geo. That super stinks. Hope you get something worked out quickly!

rr~I decided I better start pushing myself a little if I want to survive this duathlon next weekend, so I upped my mileage a little more today. Still keeping to the 45 sec run/1 min walk intervals, though. I did 2.25 in a little over 30 minutes, so looks like my hour prediction for the 4 mile run is holding steady. I'd like to get up to 3 miles by the end of this week, but we'll see how my knee and my therapist feel about that.

It snowed here all weekend, was in the 50's yesterday, 70 today, and now it's supposed to be 30 and snow again tomorrow. Gotta love Colorado weather...

Well, we have a solution to the problem that we don't have enough time to do Christmas shopping. DD and I can shop after I finish work each day, since my new schedule is evidently 5 am -2:30 pm. Of course, here in sucky chainville, the bookstore didn't have either of the two (not so non-mainstream) books I was looking for. Tomorrow Penzey's.

ugh, what a bummer about the sitter. the worst part is how hard it is on the kiddos when change happens so suddenly. DS is still asking to go back to the old sitter.

day off today. i've employed someone to help me put together a training plan for my summertime goals. can't wait to work on it!

AAAAAHHH!!!

I'm trying to register for the duathlon series, but Active won't let me log in. I have to do it tonight, because entry fees go up tomorrow! :

ETA: Got on and registered. Finally. Phew!

geo - did your sitter not even contact you? lame. and fired, i presume!

hbm - glad you found an oven repair guy! facebook does do good sometimes!

jo - oh, he SO slept on the plane! vent away, sister, that's what we're here for.

speaking of....:

i spent all of yesterday scrambling to get some things i need for this freelance project ordered and i coughed up overnight shipping at my expense and the people put the wrong address on the fedex waybill so I had to drive down to the airport [not that close] to retrieve it thereby killing almost an entire day! first part waiting for the shipment, second part driving across town! i'm under a deadline so i'm pissy.

oh and the woman behind the fedex counter proceeded to have a personal phone call while i stared at her and waited for 5 MINUTES! which when you're waiting for someone to get off the phone and help you feels like an eternity. she even looked at me and held up her finger like 'wait'. instead of saying something like 'i'll be right with you' ....

i mean C'MON!!

meanwhile, back at the ranch, i ran on the treadmill this morning, applied for a job that i would love to acquire and my garmin arrived!

there. ending on a positive note!:

Thanks mommies.

Geo, That stinks, mama. Good luck!

I ran without stopping until I ran out of juice this AM, and made it 4 miles (no walk breaks--a totally big deal for me). 4.5 total with walks before and after.

Now we're gonna watch Biggest Loser and have what I sell to my kids as an "Exercise Party." Turns on the TM and floor exercises while we watch TV.
