Merry Christmas!! Happy Jesus Day!!!

and those that don't celebrate Jesus, have a good day doing whatever you're doing (assuming, of course, that you are not breaking the law, as I certainly cannot condone that).

and happy sun-coming-back-now too!!! I never knew I needed solstice so much.

i miss the sun. I work all day now so IF we do get some, I can't see it!

Yeah, I don't know how people in offices with no windows survive without seeing the sun. I'm glad that I work in the evenings when it doesn't matter.

Am very glad the sun is coming back. Now, I would like the wind to go away. I don't know about everywhere else, but here in the Valley, we were hammered today.

Reminded me of Bethel. At least It blew most of the snow off my car. I hadn't driven it since earlier in the day on Christmas Eve. My lazy butt is :

It was interesting going shopping this afternoon. I'm glad I took dh's truck!

I need to learn how to butcher a deer!

My DH is finally going hunting on monday. : We've been in AK since last year, he got a rifle last winter, but although he knows how to shoot, he's never actually been hunting...he could kill the deer but doesn't know the right way to gut it and so on. So he's been talking to guys in town all this year trying to find someone who will take him, and everybody keeps saying oh yeah, I'll take you when I go, but no one has... Finally, one week before the end of the season, someone has offered to take him! I'm really excited at the prospect of getting our own meat, but when he drags home a dead deer, I have no idea what to do next! Can anybody point me to a good website with butchering info, or tell me (via PM if you prefer) any helpful tips I should remember? I mean, I can hack it into pieces, but I don't know anything about making good cuts, tender cuts, parts I should avoid (or save to grind), etc.
Help!!!

My advice is to find someone who is willing to walk you through it the first time. Perhaps offer them a cut of meat or something else in exchange.

Or, you could follow the rule in our house -- you kill it, you process it.

Which is great advice except that DH doesn't know any more than I do on the matter, and doesn't think ahead enough to research it I figured we'd tackle it together.

I'll see if I can find somebody who can help us.

We're on vacation, or I'd have him hook up with my dp. He's pretty good at basic dressing and butchering most game.

Funny, it's the Easton, that I was thinking a bit odd. With the other names in the family, Tripp is actually kind of expected. Wonder if she's going to breastfeed him and use cloth. That would be cool if she did. I would send her some if I had any newborn stuff.

Hehehe, who is named Track?

(I'm obviously not keeping 'track' of anyone's names)

Okay, I admit it...I'm getting tired of the cold snap! It's -9 at my house & YES I realize I just need to get up, get dressed and go out running. But...:. One of my friends in Fbks is still a walker and he's even whining a bit.

We even skipped skiing last night and took the kids swimming for 2 hours.

aighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

BUt, hey, it's a gorgeous blue-bird day.

How's everyone doing w/the cold?

I REALLY think she will breastfeed and maybe even babywear since Sarah did so recently.. and right in front of Bristol, I mean, she had to see how it's done.. cloth? not sure.

Easton is the name of hockey equipment.. considering that Sarah had said something about not getting a "Zamboni" in the family, I don't think its odd.
