What's the yummiest yarn for a baby blanket?

I need to make one for a gift and I'm just looking for your favorites.

I was given one when my son was born and while it was beautiful, it got nubby and gnarly really quickly. I think it was regular old acrylic yarn.

Anyway, what are you favorites?

For something washable I've been happy with Peaches and Creme cotton yarn in the past. As long as the blanket is machine dried it will stay soft.

There are great soft gorgeous natural fiber yarns out there, but babies pee, poop, spit up, etc. on blankets so they need to be washable. I love the Inca Cotton from Henry's Attic, but the wash instructions do say "hand wash". If the parents are up for hand washing (or have a "handwash" cycle on their machine) it is a fantastic organic colorgrown yarn. It's a thick/thin if that matters to you.

I wash our knitted/crocheted blankets inside a closed pillow case. That seems to keep them in shape and not damaged.

I like 'baby' soft yarn.... I made some from 'vanna white' yarn, others from just 'baby soft' yarn....
