Vote for Change? - Time for Obama to Act

I realize this has already been mentioned, but I like specific thread titles, so I'm going to redundantly say:

http://Change.org/ideas/view/intactivism

Go to this Change.org link to influence the Obama administration's agenda.

It would be nice if everyone would go register their support for the cause of intactivism. If this issue makes it to round two on their site, a lot of social activist types will see it and perhaps join the chorus helping us shout down all genital cutters.

I just posted the links at both causes at facebook. thanx

Thanks for the alert, I added my comments.

By the way, it takes an email confirmation before your comment gets posted, somehow I missed reading that and it caused me some confusion. And, in case your interested, here is what I wrote:

I agree that this is a human rights issue and that boys deserve the same protection that girls do, namely to keep their genitals intact unless there are compelling reasons to trade off this for some medical benefit that cannot be achieved in a less invasive way.

What I will add is that the medical community has consistently minimized the function and value of foreskins, while isolating and playing up the very minor benefits that could be treated in less invasive ways. They have given parents a biased view of the value of circumcision and thus parents are not able to make informed choices. The medical community then hides their bias under psuedo objectivity and professionalism, washing their hands of any responsibility to be advocates for the childs best interests.

That is why the government needs to act to protect the rights to genital integrity for male children. Doctors and the medical community have failed to adhere to their guidelines and oaths toward their infant patients.

Give baby boys the same rights we already give to girls, and force the medical communtiy to act in a professional and objective manner.

Regards

You guys NEED to make sure to hit the button and your idea NEEDS to appear in your profile. I literally had to press the button twice, for it to appear in my profile as I voted. Please check your profiles to make sure the idea Intactivism appears in your bottom right of your profile. thanks!

after clicking the confirmation link in your inbox DON'T FORGET TO CLICK VOTE AGAIN! commenting does NOT count as voting! I see a bunch of people commenting that haven't noticed yet that their vote isn't counted yet.

The square thingy needs to be in BROWN instead of BLUE like the others! thanx

I can't seem to get the voting to work - I click on it and it just reloads the page in a new window, but still says I haven't voted.

EDIT: Never mind, I figured it out (folks, you have to click on the blue box that tells the total number of votes!)

There are TONS of people who have commented and haven't 'officially voted'. Ron is one of them...

I have written a comment in their profiles, hopefully they'll vote. I have posted this link everywhere, we should've hit that 200 count already

I posted my comment.

I had to hold my dear daughter down yesterday for her to have an IV inserted and oral sedation liquid forced down her throat.

This was done so that she could have a CAT scan done of a large lump on her forehead.

The thought that people strap down children and cut their genitals is absolutely horrifying. It boggles my mind how anyone could be so cavalier about the pain and fear inflicted on their children for no good reason. I truly hope Mr. Obama makes circumcision of all children a recognized crime. I sent him this message the day after the election.

I was looking over the site and just realized this site is NOT connected to Obama, or any group directly working on forming agenda for the Obama Administration.

It was a non-for-profit website started in 2005 in San Francisco by a guy named Ben Rattray.

Here is there about us page:

http://www.change.org/info/about.

Obama's administration is looking for advice from the American people, and I will find that link from his site and post it here.

EITHER WAY- Change.org is a GREAT website to organize grassroots efforts around causes. In a short few days we have an organized group of over 260 people (and growing) around the issue of genital rights. THATS AMAZING. As we present our case to the Obama administration, sites like these will be CRUCIAL in organizing intactivists all over the internet to send a loud message on what needs to be changed in America.

Hey, yeah. If you click the flag-looking thing on the right it doesn't count your vote it just re-loads the page.

Well, that's easily overcome by clicking the VOTE box near the upper left. My wife and kids have all voted, too.

Intactivism is in 2nd place now that they moved it from OTHER to HEALTH! ! !

If anyone hasn't already done so please go to change.org and register and vote on intactivism as an important issue. Make sure your vote gets counted (see other's posts above.) Also message any friends you have on the change.org site or on your facebook or myspace nocirc groups.
We can make this a high profile issue with a little bit of work.
Thank you :
