Can I vent for a minute about the flu shot?

I have a nasty cold right now and it’s on day 3. I’m loading up on vitamin C and trying to stay healthy. I have been asked 4 times now by different people if I got the flu shot! They see I’m sick then say “oh did you get your flu shot this year?”. I say no and then they go into a little speech like a walking ad about the flu shot. I explain that I don’t have the flu so the shot would not have prevented this.

It’s like people can’t connect in their brain that the flu shot does not protect against common colds and bugs!!!!!

One person then went on to ask if my son got the shot and I said no, according to the CDC he is not in a high risk category. The answer to that was “Well it’s still really important. Didn’t your doctor tell you that? Kids die from the flu!”

I don’t think I can handle another season of flu shot propaganda

Same here (nasty cold and Vit C/SA) but no one's asked me if I got the shot. Yep, the flu shot propoganda and scaremongering gets old real quick, doesn't it? I have a feeling it is just going to get worse and worse every year. The major news media outlets have no incentive to report the studies showing flu shot ineffectiveness, and even if they did I think it would just get dismissed by the general public. The studies got dismissed by my own DH who then proceeded to get a flu shot
