when was/is your first OB/MW apponitment?

Just curious.
I just called the (only) local birth center to get info and they aren't doing tours til early Jan and said they wouldn't really schedule an appointment till Jan for me anyhow- that is, till I was 10-12 weeks....

My first appointment is 12/10. I didn't even get it confirmed. They're really not going to tell me something I don't already know, and I figured it was a waste of time and money.

My first appt is next week, I'll be 11 1/2 weeks.

I have my first appointment wit hmy OB on Thursday. I'll be 10 weeks, not that they asked. It was the second available appointment, he's only in the office that I go to 2 half days a week. I suppose if I had wanted to drive an hour or so I could have had a sooner appointment.

12/18 which will put me at 10.5 weeks. Mw is going by my lmp, so she has me at 11.5 weeks.

Mine isn't until 12/23. I'll be 10.5 weeks then. My OB doesn't see you until 10-12 weeks.

I had an u/s at 6 weeks- ridiculous waste of time. I refused a second one for 7wks and an OB told me not to not to bother coming in before 12 weeks if they didn't have a good u/s on file. Huh? I wanted one at 8, so I went ahead and did that with a midwife. With my other 2 children, the 8wk was standard.

My first appointment is Friday when I'll be 10w2d. I've seen the MW once for an interview (to decide if we want to use her) and twice for a few minutes to get an injection of vitamin-b. I've also been talking to her on the phone because the nausea has been so bad. But this will be the first actual prenatal visit. No ultrasound or anything. Our only plan is to hopefully hear the heartbeat which is really important to DH before we start telling the world.

I'm deciding to go with someone different this time. My first consultation is tomorrow, wish me luck!

I don't even have an appointment yet, I talked to my midwife several times and she said sometime this month would be fine, whenever we can get together. For some reason though, I'm very anxious, I had a terrible dream last night, I think I just want to hear a heartbeat.

I interviewed the mw I'm using at about 8 wks but that was just a "get to know each other" visit. My first actual appt is at about 12.5 weeks on 12/20.

It's pretty typical for drs/mws to wait to schedule until 12 wks.

Mine is next week. I'll be 9.5 wks.

I called yesterday and my appt. isn't until 12/30. I'll be 10 weeks. I was surprised that they didn't get me in sooner but then again, I've never done this before so what do I know!

most don't really want you to come in untill 10/12 weeks, because really there is nothing that needs to be done before that, and nothing that they can do. Pluss with the risk of MC before 10wks, there is just no need to be seen, unless of course you have a highrisk of eptopic, or soemthing like that.

I got in at 5 weeks and the Dr did a sono, and it was compelte waste of time, and i think it was just a way for the DR to make some extra $$$ off of my and my insurance. Then he didn't schedual another appointment untill 12wks anyways.....all he did the firs time was a sono, and perscibed some prenatal, thats it.

Mine would have been at 10 weeks (that's when they can first hear the heart with a hand-held Doppler), but because I had spotting I ended up with an appointment and u/s at 6 weeks. Now my second appointment will be at 10.2 weeks. The m/w said she meets with first time moms earlier to counsel them on nutrition, etc., but for second pregnancies and beyond she waits until 10.

I go next week on 12/11. I will be 8.4 weeks then. I hope its not a waste of time, I really want to see and hear my baby bean.

I'm having a tour of our birth center on the 9th, but I don't think the midwives will see me until I'm 10 weeks, which would be after xmas. So probably my first appointment will be between xmas and new years.

If I would hurry up and make a decision, I think I will end up going between 10 and 12 weeks (I am about 9.5 weeks now). Having such a hard time choosing between 2 awesome midwives! I agree with others that there is no real point in going earlier than that, unless you want/need nutrition info.

i'm in the process of changing dr's to a more accomodating one so i suspect we'll have a get to know you kind of appointment in the coming weeks (i'm 8 1/2 weeks right now). my midwife says i'm free to come in for my first prenatal around 14-16 weeks- around when the baby should start kicking. and really, i don't see how seeing either early on will do anything other than cause me undue stress.

Most midwives around here want to see you around 8 or 10 weeks. I'm 9 and haven't picked a midwife yet, yikes! Still interviewing...
