Have you lost weight with the coconut oil? - Page 6

I lost another 2 pounds. So four total. I have noticed that my muscles are getting pretty toned with all the exercising I'm doing so I wonder if I've actually burnt more than 4 pounds of fat but some of the weight has been replaced by muscle?? Maybe but either way I'm happy with my progress.

I started this today. I added a tsp of CO to the pan I was scrambling my eggs in. I have ACV will take that too, I plan to start off slow. I actually like it in a cup of warm water. I don't like it straight. I am trying to cut out dairy but am eating whole grains, fruits and veggies, eggs and meat. Need to cut out sugar and caffeine.

wow, now i know why everyone was recommending that people start slowly with the co. i got overly excited to trial it this morning ( dd was allergic to it at one point many many months ago and i was hoping we could give it another go), and i took 1 tbsp straight on an empty stomach. i was sooooo nauseous. i could def lose weight if i'm too sick to my stomach to eat anything! holy crap, note to self...slower!

I have been adding about a TBSP to my Simple Harvest Oatmeal each morning. I started with a tsp and worked my way up. I do not have any desire to take it straight.

unfortunately i cant take any more because dd reacted to it . it's a shame too because i can really imagine that i would lose more weight taking the coconut oil. not that i even wanted it for that, really i just wanted the nutritive properties, but still. oh well, best of luck to the rest of you girls!

Picked this up in a family cookbook:

Nature's Cleanse Tea
1 tsp ACV
1 tsp honey
1 tea bag
1 c hot water

This was pretty good, the tea bag made the difference. I made a quad batch and put in the fridge, too. Cookbook says it tastes "just like lemonaide." I can see that.....yummmm

ETA: Tried to cold tea this morning, it was just okay. Actually, had kombucha for the first time today too, and they taste almost identical just without the fizz.

After reading this thread I starting putting a heaping tablespoon in unrefined CO in my coffee each morning - it's been about four mornings and I've experienced an effect of feeling full, not craving sweets (and with AF here no less!) and not nearly as hungry as I normally am - all day long. Is that what causes the weight loss?
I wanted to add I have the raw ACV in house as a hair rinse (works like conditioner) but haven't drank any..but, when I had morning sickness with PG, years ago, sipping ACV first thing in the a.m. (and whenever) was the only thing that helped the nausea. It really made a huge difference. I think I picked that up from Susun Weed's childbirth year book.

I also notice the feeling of fullness and not craving sweets so absolutly that is part of it. However coconut oil also revs up your metabolism and gives you more energy. I suggest reading The Coconut Oil Diet or The Coconut Oil Miracle for more info on how it works.

Well, right around Christmastime I stopped taking the CO and ACV and started eating SUGAR...ugh! I just couldn't help it, the treats were too tempting. I gained back the 8lb I lost plus 2. But...I started the CO/ACV again around the 30th and I have lost 4lb and am feeling much better again! I've cut out all sugar (except a bit of honey and a little maple syrup on my oatmeal) and am back to a more TF diet. Not 100% yet, that's going to take a while I haven't started exercising again yet either, but that is to come soon!

bohemama,

I'm glad you're back on track! I was doing great through Thanksgiving and Christmas but when New Years came along....I drank several glasses of wine several nights in a row and gained a few pounds, I've already lost 2 of them but it's so frustrating. Alcohol definately works against me so I'm glad the holidays are over. I've been doing a lot of cardio the last couple months and a few days ago I bought a Total Gym so I can also focus on building muscle. I've used it twice so far and I love it! I'm a little sore today. My plan is to use it every other day.

I started using CO a few years ago, and I had to start at 1/8 tsp per day--I went for 1 tsp at first and got soooooooooooo sick.

There are some good articles out there on coconut oil and losing weight, like this one: http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...se_weight.html

I slipped up and ate some junk around Christmastime and the scale went up : I decided to start doing CO & ACV again. I started two days ago and I've lost 2 lbs, yay!

Question, will it be the same if I cook with coconut oil instead of taking it as a supplement? I'm taking about 1 tbls twice a day. If I cook with a few tbls, will that still benefit me in terms of weight loss?

(sigh)

Still nothing. WTH? I'm taking 1 tbs twice a day along with tbs acv. I'm also using some to make my popcorn with and I'm working out 4-5 days a week.

I am not feeling encouraged right now.

Sorry Maeve! I am back down to the weight I want, although I'm flabbier than I'd like to be...gotta start exercising. I think the quick return to baseline is because of the CO/ACV.

But last night, just the thought of taking it made me a little nauseous. I've just been taking 1T each, mixed together with a little honey. It's a little overwhelming. Are people having success with it even when you mix it in with food?
Yes you can cook with it and mix it with food and still get results. I prefer to put some in my morning smoothie.

Are you still nursing? I have problems loosing weight while nursing, which is why I'm still so heavy to begin with, but I hate calling it baby weight when my baby is 27 months lol. Just recently she started nursing a lot less and now it's been easier to loose the weight.

Don't be discouraged!! Even if you aren't loosing weight you are still giving your body a really awesome gift by eating healthy and exercising

I'm glad to be back on track too! I just feel so much better. Every morning after eating sugar the day before I felt sooo sick and yucky. I didn't even want to get out of bed. But, it didn't stop me from doing it all over again:. Holiday goodies are just too tempting for me. I'm kind of glad that I did go on the sugar binge though, just because it showed me once and for all that sugar is bad bad bad for me!

Tonight I'll be going to my first ballet class in a while. I love ballet and wish our studio held more than one adult class a week. I'm sure I'd be allowed to take a class with the older girls, but I'm so out of shape it would be really embarrassing lol. What have you been doing for cardio? I really like to walk/jog the neighborhood because we have lots of awesome hills but it's sooo stinkin cold!

Congrats on weightloss and hard work

Yep, still nursing. And normally I lose quite a bit of weight while nursing. Thinking about it, I did lose some but then it tapered off and now doesn't seem to want to budge.
Oh well, I keep reminding myself that I'm doing it for more reasons than just the scale. And I am feeling better, so that's good.
I also just got the My Fitness Coach for the Wii. Wow, it's a much better workout than expected and changes w/each workout (unlike a dvd). So between that, my elliptical, Wii Fit, and Dance Dance Revolution I'm having fun working out and actually getting off my butt. Hopefully the weather gets a bit nicer so we can do more walking again.

So...does the CO/ACV have to be taken alone/on an empty stomach? I've been drinking it twice a day as often as I can and am having luck. I've lost about 8-10 pounds in just 6 weeks. I'm very encouraged. But I'm wondering...it sounds like it'd be okay to combine it with other stuff. I would like to drink a green powder drink each morning (tastes nasty - the Maker's Diet Super Food powder) and thought, rather than drinking two rather untasty drinks right off the bat each day, maybe I could just combine them and be done with it, ugh! What do you all think?
