Have you lost weight with the coconut oil? - Page 9

FYI in Australia one level tablespoon is 20 ml.
In North America and Japan 1 level tablespoon is 15 ml.
It might be different in Europe or the UK specifically.
So it might depend on your cutlery!

I just started this about 5 days ago and I have lost 2 lbs. I did this as a health benefit...I am suprised at the results!! I haven't changed too much of my diet, though I tend to eat healthy.

One thing I am soooooo pleased about is that my sugar cravings are gone. We went to a picnic and a buttercreme frosted cake was served (if you read my other posts you will know that I have a thing for bruttercreme frosting)
Well......I had no desire to eat that cake. This is soooo big for me. I remember downing a piece of buttercreme frosted cake no matter how full I was before. But now....I didn't even have any urge to lick up a frosted rose!

I hope to continue this. I just found out I am pregnant. I am hoping to stay fit and keep this baby as healthy as possible!

By the way, I do tend to stay away from carbs except ezechiel bread, sprouted tortillas.

2 lb in 5 days, good for you !
did you start straight away with the full dose ? (one tablespoon each, three times a day) ...

I just ask because it's only yesterday that I managed that much ... & over the WE I had anxiety issues and stress so I ate some unhealthy carbs ... (whilst not on the "full dose" of VCO, which I believe, after reading the previous posts, makes you so full that you don't want to eat much carbs)

how do you injest the ACV ? the quickest for me is in two gulps, undiluted ... but since I am now having 3 small shakes (half a banana, one raw egg, one small plain yogurt and some defrosted raspberries) per day, I'm worried that I'll end up not wishing for a shake (which is very tasty by itself) since it'll be associated in my mind with the disgreable ingestion of the ACV just beforehand ....
any suggestion ?

I take one tablespoon of Co in the morning and evening alog with the apple cider vinegar one tablespoon as well.

I just put the soften CO in my mouth and let it melt. Then I take the acv. Then I drink some milk. Seems to work for me.

So, only twice a day.

I am looking into butter oil to take along with my codliver oil as well.

I haven't weighed myself yet today..hmmmm.

My husband was taking niacin, and it caused him to flush. Then the last time he took it, he broke out in a rash over a large portion of his body, but it didn't actually hurt or itch. Three months later, most of the rash is still there. He's been to the doctor who has given him different treatments, but it still remains. Now the doctor is thinking it's just coincidental and it's from something else. A coworker thought he had psoriasis. I was just curious if you had any lingering effects from the niacin.

No lingering effects. Actually my doctor has recently informed me that it's not the actual niacin that many people are allergic to, it's the fluid medicine it's in that's used to deliver the niacin. I hope that makes sense, this is why I can take a sublingual pill with niacin or a regular multi with niacin and have no problems.

If it's still there months later I would think that maybe it is something else, at least from my experience since my reaction didn't last more than a couple days at most.

I had a TEASPOON of coconut oil before my lunch - and I didn't finish my lunch. But I do have to say - I'm not very hungry! I'm looking forward to figuring out the right balane for my body. I"m also interested to see if I loose weight.

So i have been trying this for a few days now. I have lost about 2 pounds. I mix in some honey with the coconut oil and add some sunflower seeds. I am upto 2 tablespoons per day. I usually will have some ACV on my salad at night.
One thing I am amazed with is that I don't feel hungry in the evenings. Usually that is my "chow down" time once I get the kids in bed. I haven't been hungry in the evenings. (tonight I am nibbling a bit...I feel quesy).

Can you use coconut butter for this instead of oil? I ask only because I have coconut butter but no oil. I'm freezing. I mean I've been so darn cold the last few days, I would love to get my body warming me up.

I think they're the same thing. Coconut oil is solid below 77 degrees or so.

What amounts and when to take it?

I think one poster said to take it morning and night. Then I read somewhere to take before meals. Does it matter when you take it?

I can't get ahold of a copy of the book Eat Fat Lose Fat so I am just winging it over here. I lost two lbs in 5 days, but I also cut out sugar and flour too.

Right now I take it morning, noon and night. I also read somewhere else that the more you take the better...like up to 4-6 tbs of coconut oil.

MY HEARTBURN IS GONE!!!! ( had it every night before)

Coconut oil is just the fat whereas coconut butter I was talking about is the ground up flesh. I guess coconut butter is also a term for coconut oil, but this company uses the term butter like nut butters, which is confusing. It's like the difference between peanut butter and peanut oil. 2 tablespoons have 18g of fat and also have sugar, protein and fiber. I just wasn't sure if that would work in the same way because of the presence of other macronutrients.

this is my 5th day on 3 (or sometimse 2 only) tablespoon a day and I "think" I have lost a little, maybe a pound or so, my scales seem a little un-reliable, maybe I should invest in a more simple model ...

hope this works because I've got 45 pounds to loose at least

anyway I feel that I have a little more energy, that's quite amazing after the sluggish winter I've had .....plus it does seem to give me a better frame for thinking for food choices too (except I have difficulty staying reasonnable with the amount of cashew nust I eat ....)

.... have tried some variation on the banana shake theme, this morning I used a pear instead it was yummy ! & going to try with a peeled apple now ...

Ok so I am still down by two lbs. I am wondering if I should take it 3 times a day.

Also I have noticed (well, not it's seems to be diminishing) that I was a "stinky gal" I honestly smelled a bit vinegary.anyone else?????

I started taking the vinegar to help with my varicose veins. I figured, heck what can it hurt? (I love apple cider vinegar anyways!) I have the book, "eat fat lost fat" but I don't see the acv mentioned. am I not reading right? It doesnt' hurt to take so I have been doing it. What are the benefits of the acv???
My sugar cravings are still very very low....whoopppeeee!!!
I have to remind myself to eat because the coconut oil does fill me up. (You would think I would have lost more! ha!)

Honestly, I am just so happy about the sugar craving thing, that I am content. (for now anyways ha!)

Gwendolyn's babies, I just started one week and one day ago. I lost 2 lbs and I too am so happy that my sugar cravings are down and nearly gone. I am nursing my 17 month old and noticed in your siggy that you are pregnant.

I was reading EFLF (skimming over it). She mentioned that they don't rec. phase one for nursing mothers and pregnancy. How are you doing it? I am not sure what to do and I was wondering how much you are following it. It said to do the health recovery phase.
Well, I am not sure that I can make all of the fermenting foods. Eventually I will try it, but I am wondering if you have to have that component for optimal results.
So far I am doing this:
Bone broth
No flour
No sugar
VCO 3-4 tbs.--20 min. before meals
ACV 3-4 tbs.
Quit caffeine (except one cup tea in the morning)
planning to get a cow share for raw milk

Try dabbing a bit of coconut oil somewhere on your neck/face. After I use the spoon there is always a bit left and i dab it on my soon to be crow's feet and my wrinkle on my forehead and around my mouth. I enjoy the smell. I haven't noticed a vinegary smell and I take it 3 times a day. I think it's because your in your first trimester and smelling everything more intensely.

I will get back to you about what I am doing. My mom borrowed the book!!

I don't eat too many fermenting foods. This weekend I made falafel with tahini sauce and curried beef (yum!!)

I try to stay away from carbs in general. I am not anywhere near perfect!!! (today i needed a soda....yikes!!. I do try to eat protein snacks in general (cheese, almonds, peanutbutter on an apple)

I am using this (coconut oil) as a tool in my diet to help curb the sugar cravings.

I ran into one problem I was not eating enough ( I think I feel full) I am having dizzy spells. I have had this problem before and it stems from not enough iron. So, now I am taking a liquid herbal supplement and making sure I eat well.

I know also that when I don't eat enough my body will go into starvation mode (not good for me and more importantly the baby!) and not lose the weight.

I'm going to follow this thread. I just bought my first jar of OCO today and popped popcorn it it-yum. I smoothed what was left on the spoon on my son's face, and the dog licked the spoon! Good for everybody!

I'll start the thread from the beginning to catch up!
