Have you lost weight with the coconut oil? - Page 11

Yum! I have some strawberries in my fridge. Think I'll make that salad.

I've been doing the CO and ACV for a week (I skipped one day) and I feel like my clothes are fitting a little better. Also, my skin is looking lovely! I started washing my face with honey at the same time, so I think both the CO and honey are paying off.

I was starting to get a little revolted by the texture of the solid CO, particularly when taking it at night. But the recent heat wave took care of that - it's liquefied! And swallowing a tablespoon of liquid oil doesn't disgust me for some reason.

How has maintaining the weight loss been for the mamas who posted in December?

HOw are you using honey to wash your face? I have heard it is good for the skin.

I put about a tablespoon of honey in a silicone baking cup, mix it with about a teaspoon of baking soda, and then use it like a face wash in the shower. I just spread it around my hands a little then scrub my face with it. With the recent heat here I've been feeling my facial skin was a little dry afterward, so tomorrow I will do just honey and no baking soda. My skin's texture has always been fine, but I notice a definite improvement in the clarity and glow. I'm really prone to breakouts and I haven't had one in the week I've been washing with honey! I also applied tea tree oil to stubborn leftover spots, morning and night (but I only wash my face in the morning). As I said, I don't know whether to thank the CO or the honey, but my skin is looking uncharacteristically terrific.

Coconut Oil and Apple Cider Vinegar

We bought a 5 gallon container of Coconut Oil several months ago! and use it for all our cooking and baking needs. I love it. Also makes an awesome lubricant (separate container of course. ).

Apple cider vinegar is nice in a glass of water, it hydrates you and is cooling so good in the heat. A spoon in a glass of water. You could add a lil raw honey too if you like for taste.

I have lost 10 lbs, and am back to my high school weight! without really trying. I think the coconut oil could have helped a lot, but I can't say for sure.

Funny, but I tried a raw vegan diet without grains for 9 months and gained so much weight! and now eating a "traditional" foods diet I have finally lost weight, which I am about to get back as a baby!

Peace.

I decided to try this a week ago after finding this thread. I started with just the CO twice a day, and only added the ACV about four days ago. No weight loss so far, though I'm not paying too much attention. I'll know when I get back into my favorite jeans!

Has anyone else had this symptom? The very first evening I did both CO and ACV, I felt just fine. Had dinner as usual, no big deal. Then I had a half glass of chocolate milk plus some Kahlua, and about an hour later I got nauseous. I didn't throw up, and it finally went away so I could sleep. Had both the next morning with breakfast, felt fine all day, then did the same that evening, had dinner, felt fine. Later on I had a large frozen yogurt. It only took about 20 minutes this time before I was very, very nauseous, and it lasted much longer this time. Ugh. Is there something happening with the ACV and sugar I should know about? I skipped it last night so I wouldn't risk being sick for class. The obvious next step is to NOT have sugar in the evening, which I will try today. If it still happens, I think I'll have to forgo to ACV from now on. I'm curious if anyone else has had a similar experience?

new to the forum.... need help

I'm new to this forum, and have read the whole thread, I have purchased my vco and acv and took 1 tsp of each this morning ( will increase slowly) my question: what else does this plan involve, that can't be all there is to it, can anyone direct me to a website for the whole diet. Thanks

I started taking 1 T of CO twice daily 3 days ago, and I'm having the total opposit effect. I'm bloated, constipated, and have gained 2 lbs in 3 days. Anyone have a similiar experience? We eat a pretty healthy TF diet. I have 15 lbs to lose w/a 8-month-old nursling. I was fine with not losing to have the benefits of CO, but I don't want to gain!!!!

After researching a ton over the last few days I was able to answer my own question. CO attacks candida and can cause bloating, constipation, headache, lethargy, etc if you have a candida problem - which I know I do. I have lost a few pounds, and I feel terrible, but I'm fighting through this so I can hopefully overcome 15+ years of digestion issues I've had.

Truelife, when you say candida, does it include athlete's feet ?

I just ask because I used to think I had a candida problem .... but then I had some other problems & investigations going on and it turned out I didn't have candida in the gut after all .....

but whenever I eat sweets at a birthday (we've had quite a few in a row lately !) I tend to start having athlete's feet .... none of the doctors I've seen over the years seem to accept that there might be a link that could explain how it's a consistant way for my body to start having it ....

since you seem to be knowledgeable about candida, maybe you can point me towards the right direction for finding the right information ? thanks in advance ...

I'm also trying to take VCO and ACV .... when I was consistent I lost a little weight but right now I'm struggling to manage to be consistant about it again
+ I'm like donaghymom ... I'd like to know WHY it's supposed to work ....

newbie...... 9 days of acv and rco

I started taking the acv and rco 9 days ago, at first I was disappointed because nothing happened and like a pp I actually gained a few pounds. I persevered and slowly things began to happen. The first thing I noticed was I had way more energy and was feeling pretty peppy. Gradually I started not being hungry all the time and I didn't feel like snacking in the evening that was a big one for me. I gradually worked up to 1 tablespoon of each (acv + rco ) moring and evening I was astounded when I stepped on the scale this morning to find I had lost 5 pounds! I guess it takes awhile to start working. I read somewhere that it can take up to a month before the weight starts coming off, so don't quit if nothing happens at first, I don't know exactly how this works but I figure it's good for my body and any weight loss is a huge bonus.:

Ok, definitely have to say on the chocolate bark! OH yeah! (though I added some white sugar to Mr Toona's taste).

I'm pretty sure I'm down a few pounds. Now comes the weekend - and with my sis's bday and mother's day, I need to find ways around the mountains of pizza and baked goods. I am feeling satisfied enough with eating this way that I'm not worried like I always am. Events like these come around and I start chomping, esp if I'm on a diet, because I'm always feeling starved.

Can I just say I heart how I've been feeling lately eating this way. I don't feel like I need coffee and I'm not starving, and I"m not eating tons and tons, but the moderate portions I"m eating are satisfying. And I'm losing weight. Rock on.

Have just reading ALL 11 pages of this thread...phew!

I tried 1/2 tbs each of VCO and ACV in 1/2 cup of hot water yesterday. I ended up putting some raw honey into it, so that I could choke it down. About 20 minutes later, my throat felt like there was a huge lump in it. So, I drank a bunch of water because I felt like I should. The lump started to go away and was better within another 20 minutes. After that, I felt fine, until about 2 hours later when I started with horrible sharp gas pains in my side that pretty much lasted the rest of the night.

Could that gas be related to candida or die off of something? I've never been tested for candida, but I know that my mom has a really bad problem with it.

I think I'm going to give the ACV a rest until I've done the CO for a week and then add it in, just to see if that was what was giving me the lump in my throat. I'd love it if this would work for me to lose some weight. I don't have much to lose, just around 10 lbs., but it would be nice to lose the weight. I can't really call it baby fat anymore, since my youngest is almost 3 1/2!!

Gaining w/ CO, nursing, anyone else with me?

I have been eating TF for 3 years and using CO to cook with. I am nursing my 9 month old and need to lose the 25 remaining baby pounds. i was actually down to only needing to lose 10 pounds when the baby was about 2 months old and have since gained. Not sure what is going on!

I have been cooking with CO and take 1.5 tsp in the AM and 1.5 tsp in the PM. I am gaining. What is going on?

Did anyone else gain before they lost and how long do I need to stick with it? Is there anyone who only has gained? Should I stop now before I'm up another 5lbs?

Help! SO FRUSTRATED!

you don't mention ACV .... I don't know much about it all but got the impression that the losing weight effect would kick in when ingesting both ingredients more or less at the same time, in anycase close in time ....

Are you eating lots of carbs? Like what else are you eating, basically? I've been reading some things that lead me to believe that reducing carbohydrates/sugar will make taking the CO more effective... it's not spelled out in EFLF but I am in the middle of Good Calories, Bad Calories by Gary Taubes and that's the message that I'm getting. (It's a pretty dense book...) that high fat/low carb is what really helps with weight loss.

I know you are frustrated, but I wanted to say that the CO is STILL good for you & the baby! I have heard/read of initial lack of loss/gain and then losing some.

I myself am absolutely puzzled about why ACV keeps getting mentioned... can anyone fill me in? I have read about lemon juice in water first thing, but don't know the ins/outs of the reasoning behind ACV.

Grain free, casein free-NO WEIGHT LOSS

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for your replies. I have been grain free for over a year and casein free too (except for butter). I was doing the GAPS intro diet for about 2 months and have since moved on to the full GAPS diet. My only carbs come from fruit--I have a weakness for dried fruit too! So upset because everyone on the GAPS Intro has lost weight and I gained!

I know fruit are high in carbs though.

I heard from someone else that in "Good Calories, Bad Calories" he says that some people will gain eating only one apple per day. Maybe I need to completely cut out the fruit. Anyone had expereience with this? Also, I work out about four to five days per week.

I just do not understand why I actually was down 10 pounds more than now when I was only 2 month postpartum and I am now 9 months postpartum and have since GAINED!

Any thoughts?

P.S. have been using CO and ACV in food for years.
