Have you lost weight with the coconut oil? - Page 15

Well, I've been using CO for about 3 years, and have to say that I'm not a very good test subject just now, lol, as I'm 31 weeks pregnant. I am most definitely NOT losing weight! However, I have had little to no cravings the entire pregnancy, and what I have craved is healthy stuff like greens, oranges, pineapple, etc. I can't stand to eat junk food, not at all. I've gained about 25-30 lbs. so far (haven't stood on the scale in a few weeks). So for whatever that's worth, that's my update!

any updates on anyone's progress using coconut oil and/or acv?
I've not been consistent with CO
have had to drop ACV because of probable candida type stuff in the gut

have lost on average (in spurs, not at all regularly) 2 pounds per month since I've stopped breadfeeding last summer

was very ill just before my 28 months old weaned herself and my food preferences changed a lot right around that time, I eat much more fat now (butter and peanut butter but also fatty meat and olive oil) and because of the gut trouble am trying to cut out all sugar (not always successful though)

still about 40 pounds to go so am going to stock up on CO again and resume regular milk kefir smoothie with CO (maybe with spinash leaves too if I can manage it !)

Still no long term results? I would love to hear some success stories.

I've started a new routine ==> a green smoothie most days (spinash leaves + frozen raspberry bits + kefir, which I mix and then I add that to hot water in which I put a tablespoon of CO and sweetenerso that the CO doesn't solidify).

it makes me feel very good, more energetic, less sluggish, with good BM + last years capris are definitely loose now.

am hoping to report that in 2 -3 months time I will have lost more pounds ...
I've signed up for oriental dance class last month so that big mirror every week is a good reminder for thinking a bit more before eating & the costumes that are going to be made up for the end of year performance are showing a little bit of the hips ... (hoping that the pointed end of the top will hide the belly button at least ...) ... all the participants are at least 20 years younger than me and 4 sizes down ....

subbing

on day 15 of 1 T of ACV and CO 2x daily
I have been doing ACV 2 tsp in the am and I have added coconut oil in different ways throughout the day. I have lost 15lbs in 10 weeks. I have also completely revamped my diet. I used to eat about 3000 calories a day of pure sugar and white flour crap. But the addition of ACv and the oils has helped me kick my sugar addction and now I eat a MUCH better diet. I also exercise more. Jus walking for now.

I plan onrestarting the 30 day shred soon to tone up. I wentfrom 179-163 or so and I need to get toned. I am still very flabby.

I've never been able to consistently afford CO in the amounts it takes. IDK.

I found this thread a few days ago and read almost the whole thing. I have been taking coconut oil for a few years, lost weight with eat fat lose fat but nothing spectacular. All the wonderful things people say about coconut oil "the weight just fell off" "I had so so much energy" "my sugar cravings went away" and on and on. I never experienced any of it. I feel like the weight I lost was helped with the oil, but I was also exercising and watching calories very carefully. Well after this last baby I have more weight to lose than ever. My goal is 33 lbs, but I'd be really happy with 28. Anyway, about maybe four days ago I started the acv with the co. OH MY GOSH..... so those are what the wonderful benefits of co feel like!!! I can't believe it. I've lost 4 lbs and have so so so much energy. I still like sugar, but don't NEED it. I don't think about food all the time because I really am more satisfied.
Sorry this got so long, but a huge thank you to whomever suggested the acv with the co. It made all the difference for me.
Please everyone, keep updating with progress. I'm so excited to finally be on my way again.

So, should I not use ACV if I have a possible candida situation? I would like to try the combination of ACV and CO for many reasons. I am on a mostly liquid diet these days <not by choice > and was thinking about adding hot water mixed with ACV, CO and possibly even raw honey to the mix.

Any thoughts on this combination?

So, looks like I haven't posted to this since mid-Jan, but I'm happy to reoprt that I've dropped 18 pds so far.

Not sure if you if you'd count just several months as long term, but I feel awesome and still don't have any cravings.

I def. had major candida issues and I still take my ACV daily. I tend to be a tad bit hungry after drinking it so I usually get it down just before a meal.

Still no sugar cravings (NO sugar since end of Jan), only carbs I crave are veggies and fruit, and no before bedtime snack needed.

If fact, I started tracking calories because I wasn't getting enough to eat and loosing too rapidly.

I do exercise three times a week for about an hour, but I was doing that already.

I will say that I've decreased my CO intake to about 2tbs a day just because I felt I needed to start eating more real food instead of staying full with the oil. YMMV, but that's what I decided.

I actually got my prom dress on the other day....it only zipped half way up, but I GOT IT ON 20 yrs later!!!!!

When I first read your post, I thought you were 17 or 18 yrs old and were getting ready for prom. Then I saw the "20 yrs later" part.

That is excellent about your weight loss! Congratulations!

I'm actually try to gain a few lbs after a sudden, unexplained weight loss. I've started drinking hot H20 with CO and raw, organic manuka honey mixed in. I'm hoping it will help to heal whatever the heck is wrong with me.

I've also heard that CO helps smooth your skin. Ooooh.. wouldn't that be nice to get rid of the wrinkles around my eyes?

OMG!! ROFLMAO!!

Thanks!

I've read that it takes time for CO to help with healing your body and I can tell that it seems that over the months my body is finally getting itself back to whatever is "normal". I think I read that it takes 2 months for every year you were ailing...or something like that. That's why I was dead set to give it a set period of time before making a judgement about using it.

I'm sure the absence of sugar and processed food is largely a factor, but I don't think I could have cut those things out without the help of CO!!

Good luck!!

I just started with ACV + honey, in a couple of weeks (when I get paid!) I'm hoping to add the CO to the mix.

HappilyEvrAfter - that is impressive! I have a favorite pair of pants & a pair jeans that wore pre-baby #1 that I would love to get back into... sadly no prom dresses, oooh but I do have an old bridesmaid dress...

Hi, Just found this thread. Are there any "old moms" out there using CO?

Posters here have mentioned it has a heating effect. I'm now menopausal and the heat drives me crazy. I've been on herbs for 5 years trying to cool the flashes down so I don't wake up every couple of hours soaked in sweat. Fun fun fun!

I was down to 123 after child #2 at age 39, but with the slowing metabolism of age and lifestyle changes, I've got a major creeping weight problem. I'm actually stronger and more flexible than ever before, but that's from yoga not cardio exercise. (My endurance is poor.) I'd try CO but if it makes me hotter this is not going to work...Any older moms out there to advise me? Thx.

I have to wonder the same thing!
I finally got around to adding CO a couple of times per day, and indeed, I immediately lost some belly fat and my old jeans are comfortable again- BUT:
I was having terrible headaches, general malaise, and a deep, twisting, grinding pain on the right side of my belly. I stopped the CO, but the pain continued for another week or two.

I also have a broken tooth, so an old mercury filling has been more exposed than usual for the last month or two (I don't know when it happened, but it's finally getting fixed next week)

AND I've feel less... um... "slippery" over the last six months or so, which I've been told can be a symptom of candida overgrowth. Those of you with candida experience, can you point me toward some good resources? I've tried it on my own and gotten confused and frustrated.

To ACV, or not to ACV?
I've read that it's beneficial, and also that it's detrimental.

Anything to report, Ohiomommy?

I have been taking CO and Zumba classes since the beginning of March and have lost 12 lbs in 2 months. I feel much better with more energy.

I finally got around to buying a bottle of ACV this weekend, so I will be adding that as well. I'll try to keep you all up to date with my progress.

To be fair, however, I should disclose that in addition to the Zumba class, I try to go out for an hour-long walk on days I don't have class and am in the process of switching my family to a Traditional Foods diet instead of all the processed junk, so any weight loss will not be from the CO/ACV only.

Day 1 with CO + ACV

Ok Ladies I bought some CO yesterday from our local health food store (who knew!)

This morning marks day 1 of this journey and I'll becoming back to update regularly with progress on my weight.

Today's starting weight - 210lbs
1tbs CO (with my coffee/creamer and also on top of my oatmeal)
1tbs ACV (straight up with h2o)

I will try with a second tbs this evening and see how I tolerate it.
update - I am on day 3 of the CO/ACV and I am currently taking 1 tbsp in the morning of each. Nothing at night yet.

I think I'm going through a detox of my system - has anyone else experienced this when starting? I'm not suffering from digestive or rapid elimination problems - its a general achiness over my whole body. The only thing I can relate it to is when I don't drink enough water after getting a long swedish massage. That's the feeling.

Any tips on how to help this detox along gently and not to overwhelm my system too much? Epsom Salt bath perhaps?
