Have you lost weight with the coconut oil? - Page 4

Ok...I couldn't help it, I had to weigh myself again this morning and I'm down another 2lb for a total of 6 since Tuesday. This is just crazy! I love CO/ACV and TF. Hopefully it keeps up, but maybe slows down a little? I'm not sure how healthy it is to loose weight fast. And I haven't really been exercising this week. Normally I do a really good 3 mile walk with lots of hills, but it's been soo cold in the morning when I usually go and I haven't found another time during the day I can go. I can't imagine what the weight loss will be like when I start walking again.

I'm so glad I found this thread:

Oh yey! I'm so glad its working for you!!!

I'm not 100% sure yet, but I think I might be gaining with it...my body is just not responding...sigh. So much for that 10 lbs I put on over Thanx. I am hoping to at least fend off another 10 from christmas...
I'm going to give it another week or two.
Anyone else start out gaining?

Okay, so I've read the entire thread, and I'm still not sure what I need to do. Would someone be willing to explain in detail what you take, how much, and when?

Also, when you ladies say you're losing weight, is it visible difference? I only have between 5 and 10lbs to lose (I'm about 118lb now, and 5ft even), and was wondering if this would be worth it.

Thanks so much, ladies!

this is what I've been doing: 1Tbs acv + 1 Tbs VCO every morning and night (so on an empty stomach)

I don't think I've lost any, but I am not very hungry on most days so I'm actually worried that I'm not eating enough...dropping into starvation mode?

I am going to stop and start again on Monday b/c I'm running my first half marathon this Sunday and I can't take the chance of "messing with" my routine...I'm not a runner, but this cause is important so I've been training for 6 months.

Even if you don't have weight to loose, I think the ACV and VCLO is so good for you, that the health benefits are amazing too

I bought some raw ACV yesterday. I am taking it in a lot of water. I don't know if I could handle the taste plain. The smell alone almost sends me over the edge. I might work up the courage though. I've managed to do it w/ CLO.
I'm taking 1tbsp each of CO/ACV in the morning and evening. I'm also using it in smoothies for me and the girls and anything else I can think to get it in. I love the suggestion of the CO and banana...I've had one everyday. I'm also eating much more than I was a couple of days ago when I was downing junk. It's just much better food.

I'm not entirely convinced that the CO/ACV are why I'm loosing. If I hadn't changed my entire diet the same day I started taking it I would think it was totally due to that.

I've also started taking CLO...finally! Oh and all of this started on a whim on Tuesday and I'm totally flying by the seat of my pants. I haven't read EFLF or anything like that. And I'm very new to TF

You should really dilute the ACV with water and then drink from a straw. The straight vinegar will ruin your teeth and it will certainly burn your throat.

That said, I'm starting this right now. I'm currently 175lbs and I have no energy and have been battling health issues, dandruff, allergies, ear infections, depression. I am considered right over the line for obese for my height (5ft4). I will certainly check back in and let you all know if the ACV and VCO improves my conditions.

I have never heard of Raw ACV ruining teeth. It isn't bad to eat salad with dressing. Now I am curious...

hmm...I'm curious too. I just throw it toward the back of my throat and then drink a big swig of water right after. It never touches my teeth (except for the residue which is diluted with water).

I hope to hear that you are feeling better after starting this (if not a bit thinner). I started out a little heavier than you and feeling close to the same way. I feel so much more energetic now! I've been dancing with my girls to Christmas music for hours this week. That wasn't happening last week. If anything the CO/ACV has changed my entire mindset about taking care of myself and I'm making it a priority. The weight loss happens to be an excellent motivator to keep up with it. Even if it only lasts for a little while I think it will be long enough for my bad habits to give way to these new good ones.

Sorry to go on and on...this has just been such a *light bulb* week iykwim

All right, I was intrigued between this and the Hibernation Diet thread, so I decided to take it with my evening prenatals. I'd tried the tablespoon of raw honey last night, and that went well, who doesn't like an excuse to eat candy? Tonight I went for an all-at-once approach mixing the tablespoon of coconut oil, Bragg's ACV, and one of raw honey together in a cup of strongly brewed white jasmine tea. And... I loved it! Who'd have thought? I mean, I actually liked the taste, it went well together and I didn't even notice the coconut oil (ours is refined and therefore pretty tasteless, but I imagine a coconutty flavor would go pretty well with the jasmine, I'll try virgin coconut oil next chance I get to buy it). First impressions are that I feel terrific, though I credit placebo this early in the game.

On the other hand, I've heard about scratchy throats and upset tummies, but has anyone felt a weird warm throb in their throat? Not a painful throb, just weird. We've all had sore throats from the dry air and possibly colds, and the brew helped with that, but still I'd feel better if I was sure what this symptom means. Thanks! BTW, my husband thinks I'm crazy.

Do you have to eat the co and acv straight or could you blend it into a smoothie?

Also, I am nursing. Are these ok for a nursing mama?
I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned, I haven't read through the whole thread yet, but I know acv is suppose to prevent mastitis in goats, I wouldn't be suprised if it does the same thing in people.

bohemama,
you asked about water weight, Okay so if I lose a pound of water usually by the next day it will be back. I think I may start measuring myself, that should give some more clear results along with the scale.

Mine thinks I'm crazy too!

I have been doing this for a week now. I feel better, more energy, less cravings, and my pants are looser. I feel like I have lost some weight. I will weigh myself soon, but I try not to. It makes it too easy to get caught up on the number for me. I don't have a ton to lose, about 10-15 lbs. Hopefully this will jump start that. I lost the 45 lbs I put on while pg with my dc's, but I would really like to lose the 10-15 lbs I wanted to lose BEFORE I got pregnant with them.

Thank you Missa! Well, those 6lb haven't come back so I'm considering them fat pounds Yay!

It's been the weirdest feeling to loose weight right now because I am on my period and extremely bloated, but there is no weight gain with it. So I don't feel any smaller but I am. Can't wait until af is gone

Good idea about measuring too, Missa! I'm going to start doing that

OMG reading this is making me :. Drinking vinegar and CO, through a straw so it doesn't rot my teeth, but it won't rot my teeth it's natural, right? And eating coconut oil just to lose weight? How does eating coconut oil alone make you lose weight? If it's causing digestive trouble maybe it's just making you look like you're losing a few pounds like any diarrhetic would do??

I once ate a spoonful of CO a few days in a row to see what the fuss was about and I never felt so awful!!! My stomach hurt like nothing ever before. I just wonder if we were "meant" to down spoonfuls of any oil

But carry on I suppose. I'm just baffled by the idea of actually looking physically different by *only* taking coconut oil. What is it about the oil that makes you lose?

So, I started a few days ago.

Thanks to whomever gave the "float the CO on a hot beverage idea." I took it on tea the first day, and now have been just drinking it in an espresso cup with a bit of hot water and I'm actually enjoying it.

I've been taking the ACV straight at night, but in the morning, I take it in my morning concoction: powdered greens, water, a bit of black current juice (unsweetened), and ACV.

I, too, have been having nausea, and it's definitely related to the ACV not the CO. I know this, because sometimes I'm not taking them at the exact same time.

We'll see how this works. If it's good, I'll go with my routine. If not, I'll tweak to take them together and without the powdered greens...

Vinegar takes the enamel off the teeth. Thats a good point though that we eat it in dressing.

Vinegar is an organic acid (acetic acid). Acids are involved in the formation of caries (dental decay) by demineralizing (removing calcium from) the enamel that makes-up the outer layer of the tooth. Acids such as acetic, lactic, proprionic, and butyric acids are produced in varying proportions by bacteria living in the dental plaque when they metabolize sugars. A more detailed description can be found in Ernest Newbrun , "Cariology" 2nd. Ed., Williams and Wilkens, 1983.

Raw Apple Cider Vinegar is very different than distilled vinegar. I am not sure if the study was done on one type of vinegar.

I feel the same way about needing something to help change my mindset and get me going. I used the coconut oil before and it DID make a difference. I feel strongly that it will work. I know that I need to heal myself so I can have the energy to get moving. We can support each other on this journey! Good luck.
