This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

My mom died before my grandson was at the "why" stage (which I assume your son is now, since he is the same age as my grandson). But this was about a year ago and we told him "big grandma died" and that was pretty much good enough for him. sometimes he will ask about her now and be more inquisitive like asking where she is. We just kind of take his lead in it ... like sometimes I will say she is in the sky, or everywhere, or gone. I try to keep it to one word for now ... I guess we'll see what happens when that is no longer good enough for him
- oh and sometimes I cry, and if he wonders why I tell him that I miss her... and then he will usually say he does too ... then that's about it.
