After #1 I bled at week 5 (and had only stopped at week 3) and then at week 7. Then exactly a mos later and then a mos after that. I got pg at 5 mos pp. After that it was different for each one. Anywhere from 4 mos pp to 10 mos pp. I never do anything different. ebf for at least 6 mos, most were 9 mos. I co slept and wore my babies. No pacis except with #2 the first week to teach her how to suck. All nursed throughout the night. My kids don't sleep through the night till they are 2 or so. My 21 mos old still wakes once a night to nurse and I am 19 weeks pg.

I had a friend who was nursing 3 kids at once and got her af right away after that third one was born. She was so mad.

Both my DS were exclusively breastfed for at least the first 6 months. No sleeping through the night.

I don't know if it is "normal", but I get pg EASY and get a quick AF return, so perhaps. I always tell everyone that I get pg just THINKING about DH.

I would say those crampy feelings are most likely your uterus still healing and getting smaller again. I had those horribly for about the first 6 weeks after I had my 2nd.

As far as pp periods...
with dd(exclusively bfed until 6 months and then bfed until 13 months along with solids) I got my period back at 11 months pp.
with ds(exclusively bfed until 9 months and then bfed until 18 months along with solids) I got my period back at 13 months pp.

Mine came back at 5 months PP with exclusive/on demand nursing. I was expecting it because I had signs of fertility for 2 or 3 months leading up to that. Some of us just don't get very lucky

DD1 I exclusively pumped 8-10 times a day (would pump in middle of night too) and got period about 2 months PP.

DD2 is 3 months old and exclusively breastfed. She sleeps through the , but I pump once before I go to sleep so it's not quite so long. No period yet. I thought I was getting it about 4 weeks ago, but I think it was just very late PP lochia spotting

AF came back at 7 weeks for both of my children and I do not get pregnant easy. It took so long our children are spaced 5 years apart. As a matter of fact we were told our chance of getting pregnant were very slim. What do they know as we have two beautiful miracles without the feritility treatments.

I got my period around 6 1/2 weeks postpartum. I was unable to breastfeed. My periods have been normal since that first one.

it was 17 months for me and I get pg at the drop of a hat (but have a chromosomal disorder that causes miscarriage...but still). I had two oops before my dd and took 2 months to conceive her, and got pg twice since.

wow! I wasn't even near done with lochia at 1 month and you're already worried about periods?! yikes. you must heal quickly!

I bf #1 for 12 months and got my period at 18 months.

I bf #2 for 6 months (she had an illness making it near impossible to continue, oddly) and i got it back at 11.5 months.

I'm pregnant with 3# and I'm hoping for 2 years!! hehe or 3 even!

#1 4 months of bleeding after the birth (I think it was the IUD) then nothing until I had IUD removed 17 months post partum

#2 EBF, feeding on demand, co-sleeping and tandem nursing, AF was back at 2 months

So I'm jealous of everyone who got to go any longer than that, and better yet a solid week before AF shows my supply drops dramtically so I've dealt with 9 cycles of PMS with a very hungry and angry baby pulling on my very sore and tender breasts.

You might be having "hormonal bleeding."

Listen to this from my NFP book
"Within the first 8 weeks postpartum, some mothers doing exclusive breastfeeding have a bleeding episode that has nothing to do with fertility. The cause is still not fully known. However, some call it "hormonal bleeding" because they think it reflects a change from pregnancy and immediate postpartum hormone levels to hormone levels more typical for mothers doing exclusive breastfeeding."

I had a friend that had this bleeding episode. She was disappointed to get her "period" so early, but never had another one and we both guessed what we thought had been a period, must have been hormonal bleeding.

Well DS is almost 18 mos and still nursing, and I haven't yet gotten my cycle. However, I have been having some brown spotting for about the last 4 days and some minor bloaty, crampy, AF type feelings - does that constitute a period? I POAS and it was neg... Just curious what the first one will be like...has anyone else had an experience like this?

And me - got first PP AF at 6 weeks and DD didn't (and still hasn't at 11 months!) gone more than about 2 hours without nursing...
