Pookie, I used micro-dose lup. last cycle and it was 6-8am/pm, as you said. I stuck with 6 and was pretty consistent about it. GL~

May be stalking you all more, had a bfn at 12 dpiui and then got called by the pharmacy to go over the ivf meds minutes later. Fabulous timing. I'll do a blood test on Thurs. just in case but it's sinking in slowly.
Has anyone heard of this? My RE wants to do a long protocol but doesn't like bcp so the prep month will be me taking natural estrogen (estrace) and nat. prog. Any thoughts on that?

joy ~ did you know you could get a perfect sperm analysis results, but still have bad dna fragmentation? I can't help but worry about it, until I find something else that would cause our embryos to slow growth between Day 3 and Day 5. Wow, 12 dpiui! Will you take a beta test in a few days?

8 DPR, BFN. Good to know the HCG is out of my system. I have 2 more tests. 10DPR and 12DPR? No more cramps, no more gas, feelin' good. Well, except for the runny nose, watery eyes, mild headache and itchy throat....annoying.

Jaz - that's what I was saying - he got perfect results on the SCSA test, after having great numbers in general. I thought he'd have fragmentation even with the good numbers but he didn't. That's why I was saying you might not get too worried about it until you get the test done.
It was a funny experience I will post on the silliness thread.

poet - sorry about the BFN - maybe it's not true! but that's why I won't test. I'm not being negative (pun intended) but I don't want to see one lonely line and then wonder if it's just too soon still to tell.

I dunno about a long protocol with only the estrace & prog. but I do know the BCP & Lupron long protocol didn't work for me. Can you explain your protocol exactly? Does it suppress you at all? I wanna ask my doc about all the options on friday b/c I don't want BCP's or Lupron again. I imagine there are other meds you will be on as well during that time. Are you doing an Estrogen Priming protocol? that's what I want to do if we have to.

does anyone know when taking prometrium if you have to stop to find out if you get AF? or will AF come while you're on it and then you stop it?

snow - congrats. that's exciting. I was looking forward to that part of the cycle, hoping to at least know we could fertilize together. I hope we can get there soon too. I hope they keep growing strong.

hi joy, the first time i took prometrium i did not get my period until i stopped taking it. the second time i took prometrium my period came on its own before i stopped take the suppositories. joy, i wish you were able to have done the ER & ET - i know it must be very disappointing - but i am really hoping that your change of plans ends up in a BFP

Congrats snow. Poet, I hope it's just too early and you get a BFP soon. Joy, I have had a period on prometrium, but generally I would stop when I got a BFN.

AFM, DH is starting antibiotics today, I started Follistim this am and will do menopur tonight -- yeah, I found where they told me the timing and it is 6-8 am. I can't imagine getting up to do the shot at 6 am. I dragged myself out of bed at 7:45, then realized that I needed to let the Follistim warm up a bit before using it, so that shot was more like 8:05. Oh well. Not a morning person here.

I have to start my antibiotics soon too. Does everyone have to take antibiotics when they do IVF. I hate them -- always give me a yeast infection. Any good suggestions for strong probiotics?

AFM, just found out that during my egg retrieval for IVF, we will have to have someone watch ds for us -- children are not allowed in the recovery room, and they expect dh to be there so they can show him how to give me injections of progesterone in oil. Boy, IVF is about 1000% more of a PIA than IUI with Follistim. Not to mention ten times as pricey. We are definitely doing this only one time. Sheesh.

hi pookietooth - yes dh and i both did the antibiotics Doxycycline. i've never gotten a yeast infection so I am of no help in answering your question. i hope you find a solution that works!

you are right about IVF being much more a PIA than IUI w/ injectables. for me the most annoying part was scheduling. it's so hard not to know when ER & ET are going to be exactly. you keep planning out different scenarios in your head of when it will be. at my clinic children are not allowed to come at all. not even for bloodwork and u/s. i can understand why the clinic requests that but i can also understand how that can be a hardship on parents. i hope you are easily able to find someone to watch your ds.

as for me, tomorrow is my ET!!! yay!! dh and i have been going back and forth on day 3 or day 5 and we just spoke with the dr. and decided that transferring 2 on day 3 would be best for us. now, let me just hope, hope, hope that there are 2 healthy embies to transfer tomorrow! :

also, i start PIO injections tonight! after all of your support, encouragement and words of wisdom i don't fell that nervous about it! i can't thank you all enough for making me finally feel calm about doing the PIO injections.

I took Doxycycline, but no yeast infections here. It might help to use a feminine cleanser, if you aren't already. Ever since I started using it daily several years ago, no more yeast infections. And I used to get them regularly!

I can't believe your clinic's policy on children!!! That is a MAJOR pita!!! I'm so so sorry you have to deal with that. Gosh, could they make it any more inconvenient, trying to train DH at the same time as the ER? Frankly, DH did not attend the injections class (we had one class covering all injections). He watched the video, read the instructions from our clinic and did it. Could you possibly arrive like an hour early so DH could get his training while you babysit, then switch when you need to go in?

Our clinic is the same way about not allowing children for ER. I do understand, since you may not be in the best condition when waking up and I really wouldn't want my children to see me that way. I also really depended on dh to help me get up and get to the car and such. No way would we have made it with dd there.

I too have an antibiotic. I think it's precautionary, since they are piercing you with a needle during ER. I'd also caution you against using any feminine cleanser up there. I think it would increase the risk of infection since you might still have some miniscule open wounds from the procedure. I think that's also why they restrict intercourse after retrieval. If you ladies haven't hear, intercourse and orgasm are typically both restricted from ER until a heartbeat is heard.

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend putting the cleanser "up there", just on the outside, normal use Not talking about douching or anything.

There are clinics that are ok with kids. We brought DS on retrieval day and transfer day, no issues. For a moment I was quite stressed because they were supposed to get DH to do his sperm sample well before my appt time, but the registration girl screwed up. They said it was absolutely no problem, my DS came with me to get undressed and they set him up with crackers and toys next to my bed til DH picked him up. They came and picked me up after the retrieval, I was all dressed, ready to go. Anyway, it can work out. Almost every appt I had there were kids in the waiting room.

I am about to leave soon for the ET but I just wanted to share that the progesterone in ethyl oleate injection was a BREEZE!!! :yay!

i felt absolutely NOTHING! i was so proud of dh for doing such a good job. jaz, you are right - this was definitely less painful than stims.

i think the one downside of the Prog. injections will be the side effects. I have been very crampy since the middle of the night. but i will accept that side effect since the injection went so well.

we transferred two good embryos today! it was definitely easy and quick.

the dr. went over our embryo report and it wasn't too stellar. out of 10 embryos only 2 were 8 cell, 1 7-cell, 1 6-cell and the rest were 2, 3 or 4-celled. after all these years of TTC I want an explanation and i want to know WHY we did not have great fertilization. but for now i am going to feel blessed that we have two great 8 cell embryos in me right now.

we are definitely going to freeze two and tommorow we will find out if any of the other embryos progressed enough to freeze.

on a side note - right now i am looking at the picture of our two embryos that were transferred and it kind of makes me giggle. i'm happy to have it but what do i do with it? dh jokingly said we should put it on the fridge. i said at the childs wedding we will put it in the slide show "here is when you were 3 days old out of the petri dish". sometimes this all seems so crazy! my mom said we will find a place for it one day in our baby book...i hope she's right.

what did you guys do with your embryo picture?

Not in the Jan IVF, but I was in the Dec IVF. My picture of the 2 transfered embies is on the fridge. Along with the Certificate of Ownership for the frozen embryos, also with the u/s pics. I will put everything in a baby book once I get to that point.

snowbell ~ Glad your transfer and PIO was so easy for you I wonder if it's the progesterone "in oil" that causes people pain. I don't know what the difference is.


So I tested this morning, 11 DPR. There is the faintest of faint lines there. I'm calling it inconclusive till I test again tomorrow.

Hi Everyone,

Hope its ok to join u all! I'm new to IVF and have been thru stims/bd with no luck. I start my Lupron today and am pretty nervous about the side effects.

Belly Bean - we're both in Oregon (i'm in Tualatin, south of Portland) and both starting Lupron today!!!
