Pumping 18 oz in a work day would have been impossible for me. The most I have ever expressed was 16 oz a day. I'd surprised they didn't discuss the possibility that the care provider might be misreading hunger cues and over feeding the baby.

Excellent thought. I think caregivers need to be taught how to pace bottle feeding, especially for a breastfed baby. As important is learning how to observe baby for signs of satiety. In this day and age of obesity prevention etc. what better place to start than with this new generation.

I stopped going to my local LLL meetings b/c to me, it seemed like it was a pissing contest on who could be crunchier. I went to quite a few meetings and just simply didn't fit in. I am MILDLY CRISPY and most of these moms were organic only, homeschooling, cding, co-sleeping etc. A lot of questions that were asked simply didn't pertain to bfing at all. I hated not going b/c I really could have used their help more. One of the leaders was really great with me and patiently listened to this sobbing stranger on the line at 10pm at night b/c I just didn't know what to do. She left though.
