i'm pretty sure we're having a girl....we tried to time the deed before ovulation so as to make it more likely but we'll find out to be sure. i'd like to know if its a boy just to give myself time to change my mindset.....but i want a very limited set of ultrasounds.......maybe just the one, i need to look into the pros and cons of different times of having one

I dont want to but DBF wants to know.

Psh... it's a boy anyway... just like he wants. lol. I just know it :

we had to do ivf with my dd and with this pregnancy. i would be so upset if i was to find out. it's the only suprise we get after ivf. when i would have an us of my dd i wouldn't look until i was sure i couldn't see. i var convinced that as soon as they put the thing on my belly it would be right between the legs!

i had a dream about her anyway so i knew deep down she was a girl...

With the first we didn't find out til birth and it was very exciting for everyone! We found out beforehand with the second and I liked that too, actually, because it helped us visualize who was in there better.

With this one, I dunno. This will probably be our last, so it sure would be fun to have another surprise. We're thinking of finding out but not letting anyone else know.

We found out with both of our two children, and we're really resolute about *not* finding out this time. I'm leaning toward having an ultrasound, but I definitely will not find out.

We're absolutely doing an ultrasound because of DS2's scary surprise and I don't want to find out but DH does. He won last time so I win this time

I will most likely have the U/S. I don't want to find out, but Jose does. I REALLY don't want to know and I know it's a boy anyway... MOM'S INTUITION LOL

Not having any U/S unless medically indicated and even then don't want to know whether it's a boy or girl...I like surprises

I am still debating.
On one hand I would love for it to be a surprise, it just seems like such a cool experience but I am not sure I can handle 9 months of no knowing. Also, we have issues coming up with names so it would be very beneficial to be able to focus on just one rather than having to do both boy and girl.

I think DH wants to know.

And hey, if this kiddo is anything like the last he/she is not going to be shy about showing. Even an untrained eye could see the boy parts.

If there were a medical reason to do so, I would have an u/s. If I had an u/s I would want to know the gender if it were obvious. It would weird me out for the tech (and all my care providers, since it would be noted in my records) to know and me not to.

However, I won't have an u/s without a good reason. I think. I have two boys and I love them and I will be fine if this baby is a boy. But with both my previous pgs I wanted a girl, and when DS2 was born I wasn't disappointed in him - but did have to do some work letting go of the idea of a daughter at that time. So there might be some emotional benefits to knowing ahead of time for me. I just hate any interventions that are not (to me) absolutely necessary. So . . . I will probably tough it out, determinedly expect a boy, and be pleasantly surprised if we somehow have made a girl this time.

We did this last time. I absolutely needed to know and DBF wanted the surprise. So we went for the 20-week ultrasound and the Bean wouldn't give it up! Legs crossed, kept moving away, the tech just couldn't tell.

I told him I'm finding out this time, but agreed to keep it a secret.

My totally unsolicited opinion on ultrasounds is that they are absolutely medically necessary especially if you are giving birth outside of the hospital setting. I'm all for low-intervention, I'm a labor doula even. But DS2 was born with an undetected heart defect and almost died because of it. So the benefits outweigh the risks IMO. I'm mainly just talking about the 20 week screening, not ultraounds for recreational use.
