Blood in stool of 14 month old??

My 14 month old DD breastfeeds frequently still, but does eat some solids. I just recently introduced whole cow's milk to her on the pediatrician's recommendation. She just had a poopy with blood in it. She's had about 1 or 2 oz of cow's milk per day this week and that's all that has changed in her diet (except the other odd things that find their way to a toddler's mouth). She doesn't seem to be bothered otherwise...no eczema, no diarrhea or other rashes. Could she be sensitive to the cow's milk? Should I drop it from her diet?

sounds like a sign of cow milk allergy. have you tried posting in the allergy forum?

Sounds to me, actually, like an intolerance to casein, the protein in cow's milk. My son was given formula as a young infant, and his gut bled. We were told it was casein intolerance, and that we should avoid all dairy for a few years and then try again, to see if he would outgrew the intolerance. It's not an allergy, not precisely, but it is serious because it can damage the gut. I would probably re-contact the doctor who advised starting dairy, and talk about this possibility.
