We when to my pedi today. He wants to see him back in 2 days and he says that he feels good that it will stop being painful in a couple days.
Well at least he's getting better.

Sounds like one hell of a good pedi. Is he your regular one, if not why? He should be added to the list. I don't understand what you mean by: "He was a member of DOC but did not resign with them b/c they never sent him the paperwork."

He was a member but then left? Or he tried to sign up and never heard back from them. I wonder why he would have tried to resign. I was going to ask you if this Doc was a member too.

Perhaps you could introduce him to the board, a semi regular professional presence might be helpful.

What is the type of cream, rx name?

He was my regular one but he is sooooo busy. You have to wait for like 4-5 hours to see him and his office is always PACKED. You see oodles of women crammed in two tiny wait rooms, usually all with baby on the breast. So, I went to another doc. to consult about possible food allergies, which is when the incident happened. On saturday I saw his colleague and he is the one who wrote the prescriptions. His colleague seemed equally as anti-circ but I was so freaked out that I did not get into to much discussion.

I forgot to add also told me how he got involved with the intactivist movement. He said on of his parents brought him Dr. Fleiss's The Case Against Circumcision article. After reading it he decided that he needed to do an indepth investigation on circ. Around that time he was working for a hospital that had a routine retraction protocol. He wrote a letter to the other physicians and provided them with reading material and single handedly changed the changed protocol at the hospital. They stopped retracting intact boys and all the staff was re-educated about the care of the intact boy. Now he speaks to other doctors whenever he can about not retracting intact boys.

I think I am going to write him a letter thanking him for our discussion and his hard work at saving baby boys. I could include the MDC info in there.

The steroid cream is Desonide 0.05%
The antibacterial cream is Bactroban 2%
The oral suspension is Cefodroxil

Oh yeah, I think he said that he was a member of DOC but they never sent him paperwork to renew his membership. Maybe you don't have to renew once you are a member and he is unaware of that. Either way I would think DOC would be contacting their members on a regular basis. Maybe he slipped through the cracks.

He sounds like a wonderful doctor!
I'm glad your son is feeling a little better and I wish him continued healing!

He is a lactation educator and said that when he gives a lactation presentation he ALWAYS talks about circ too. He asks all his prenatal appointments if they are planning to circ. If they say "yes" he turns them away and says that he can not be their doctor. One family insisted that they refer their son to a urologist for a RIC and when he put the referral he said on the referral, "I don't recommend circumcision b/c it is not medically necessary". He told me that the urologist declined to do the circumcision on the baby. He said the parents were livid but he did not care b/c he would never lie. Over a period of four years he tracked the circ rate at on hospital. He says that it took quite a bit of time b/c he had to go over pages and pages of births. After the four years he learned that there was 25% circ rate. Now he is going to repeat the study to see if his presentations about circ have had any impact. He was a member of DOC but did not resign with them b/c they never sent him the paperwork. He also has met Dr. Fleiss and Marilyn Milos at a convention. Pretty neat, huh?
OMG I want to marry your doctor!!!!!!!! :::

my daughter hated those drops! she was screaming like never before it was awful and I asked the nurses to stop doing it. I cried during this procedure, because I felt I was suffering for her

I am glad you found a good doctor, now I think if I ever need one I may have to flight to PR

I am also glad your baby is feeling better

The color is normal again. I just peed and pooped him over the sink and the stream of urine was much wider than before. He still balloons and fussed a bit but after it was done he was giggling again.

Still fussing when peeing but not full out crying. He fusses more in the morning when he has a lot of pee. We are getting back to EC but the ballooning is quite disturbing. It gets so big and looks OUCHIE! Hopefully the discomfort will be over soon.

Enith, the EC is really quite simple. You'd be surprised. We started when Noah was 4 months, kinda by accident. I wanted to make sure he was okay after the retraction incident and then I just kept on with it b/c it was so simple.

He is a happy camper again! He balloons and now his foreskin is fully separated from the glands. He isn't showing any sign of discomfort when he balloons at all. I'm sure he will think it is a cool trick when he is a little older.

We took him off the oral antibiotics on Friday. He was already getting diarrhea from them. I stopped both creams too. Now I am watching for yeast. I bought monistat just in case.

Thanks for asking!

Now that I can see exactly how much of his penis is foreskin I am shocked at how much they would have to cut to circ. It is like 3/4 of his penis!!!!!

Enith, get the book: Diaperfree, The Gentle Wisdom of Natural Infant Hygiene. You can buy it at www.theecstore.com also visit www.diaperfreebaby.org

wow 3/4 is a lot!

if he gets enough probiotics I think he'll be okay so glad to hear he's all better now :

thanks for the links
