Post your choice and leave others alone...
this is the last time i'll respond or even read your posts. i really don't need the added stress of someone like you. i'll just chaulk it up to your hormones.
later..

ouch. maybe we'll chalk your response up to your hormones.

NaturalMindedMomma had a valid point, and she didn't make it in an offensive way.

I'm glad you found a place to birth (and presumably a care provider) that you are happy with. That's a wonderful first step

I wish it were an easy choice for me but a lot depends on how the 20 week u/s and fetal echo goes. DS1 was born in the hospital, unmedicated and a fabulous birth. With DS2 it was an easy choice, we had a homebirth after the u/s showed he was healthy. Well, he wasn't. He had a heart defect that was detected by our HB MW when he was 2 weeks old. The backup pedi missed it, the ER missed it. He had open heart surgery shortly after. We've met with genetic counsellors who've said we only have a 3% chance of having another baby with a heart defect versus the 1.5% chance that everyone else has.

Right now we're leaning towards a birth center birth if the baby is healthy. Our birth center is less than a mile from a really good hospital. We'd love another homebirth but it would take over 20 mins to get to the hospital if we needed it. We'll have to do lots of thinking before we make a concrete decision.

Thanks! Yes, the midwife is the reason I am there! She is great!

I voted FBC, but I may end up at home. I need to start frequenting the home birth forum a little more to learn more about logistics--e.g. pets, keeping my house clean during and after, birthing tub rentals, neurotic non-crunchy relatives . . .

Not hormones, just factual information. I was just polite and honest... Maybe you should start your own thread about this and we can all discuss it like adults and post some links and factual information? It seems as though you don't really want to bother to prove your point. Good luck with your pregnancy and birth. I hope its eerything you want!

So the more I have talked to DF, he really tihinks a homebirth is the way to go. What we have planned with my HBMW, is that we will pay her doula fee, see the hospital midwives, and come time for baby, we can birth at home if that feels right. It's much cheaper that way and I can just compile some homebirth supplies in the meantime!

I think we might get to HB this time!!!

Homebirth!

I planned for one with DS, but transferred in due to lack of progress and ended up with an epi and giving birth in stirrups. The subsequent 'care' I recieved very nearly prevented us from bfing

I am plan a quiet, med free, maybe water-based, home birth. I would dearly love an independant midwife, but I don't think we can find the money for one...so might have put my faith in the NHS again :...I have heard good things about the mw's round here though. They do sound more pro-HB than my previous area.
