Every year, my inlaws get two huge smoked turkeys for Thanksgiving. (13 children plus grandchildren and spouses) and every year I take away the carcasses and make smoked turkey stock with them. This stock is amazing and delicious and I use it until at least March.
So, yesterday, I pulled the carcasses out of the freezer, boiled them up in three big pots, sorted through for useable meat and strained the stock into a GIANT stainless steel bowl to cool. This took a good portion of the day!
I had planned to pressure can it today and have it waiting, yummy and delicious in the pantry.
:
My dh (who is a wonderful man...just an absolute dolt in the kitchen) was doing the dishes after dinner. I said to him, pointing to the stock, "This is the turkey stock. It's too hot to deal with right now, but I'll deal with it in a little bit."
Apparently he didn't hear me. I was sitting on the couch when he peeks in from the kitchen with a worried look on his face holding an EMPTY, CLEAN stainless bowl. "Was I not supposed to pour that out?"

Every year I look forward to cooking with that stock and it makes me feel good that the turkey bits don't go to waste after the big family meal.
At least dh didn't throw out the curried pumpkin, coconut soup that we had for dinner!
He was appropriately contrite and I have forgiven him, but I still may cry.

, I know how you must feel.

so that act seems to wash out the bonehead move, imo

I couldn't believe him. This is a man who drinks herbal tea often and uses some of my herbal concoctions. Must be a brainless moment. From then on he never touched pots that are not empty. Maybe give your DH the same guideline - if it's not empty, leave it there.
