Any Plastic Canvas People out there?

I know that plastic canvas is so not cool, not like knitting (which I also do), but I was wondering if anyone besides me still does it? I have built play castles and doll houses for Playmobil size and a Barbie RV. I use the plastic canvas when I want to be creative and the knitting when I want to give gifts. (no babies in the family yet and all my nieces and nephews are in different countries). So, I have a stash of doll houses and a pile of blankets. Anyway, anyone out there like me, or am I just weird?

Aww, I think there's a lot of cute plastic canvas stuff out there. I don't do it these days, but that's because I don't like the experience of making it as much as I do knitting, not because I don't think it's "worthy" or something. Your castles and houses (and RV!) sound amazing. We have a plastic canvasser in my local knitting group, and she's very welcome there, just like you are to hang out here.

I mostly make mine up. For a ten year old's first project, I suggest a box (like for putting treasures or pencils in). For an easy pattern, just cut out five squares of the same size. She can do the sides one color and the seams another. To make a lid, cut a sixth square and sew that one as usual. Only connect one side to make a flap. I was about her age when I started plastic canvas. I've been doing it ever since. I base all of my projects off of a basic box.

For the doll furnature and house, I just size my dolls (like Playmobil) and make the furnature that size. For example, a couch is two doll bottoms wide and up to their "knees" in height. A bed is as long as the doll is laying down. A twin-size bed is just as wide as one doll; a queen bed is the width of two dolls; a "family" bed is the width of three dolls.

For small furnature and boxes, you may be able to use single strength canvas, but with bigger things, you probably will need to double up (sew two together) If you need more/better instructions, PM me.

I've also used pc to create a border in my kitchen and matching wall hangings.

I don't, but I think I did when I was little--my Grandma and mom did some. I remember the kleenex box cozies, and I'm looking right now at a couple little ornaments hanging on our tree made by my Grandma a while ago Your projects really have me excited about looking into it, again, though--I think I'll have to browse the craft store aisles for some pc projects after my holiday knitting is finished! I do like a change from knitting/crocheting once in a while.
