Would you do this?

DS has problems with dairy, eggs, and soy. He has not eaten any of the top 8, or corn, and many many other things, though through breast milk he has everything but dairy, eggs, soy.

His birthday is Sunday.

He has not shown any concerns with wheat through bm. I have a recipe for pumpkin muffins that are free of all of the top 8 except for wheat. I am thinking about allowing him to have it.

Now, the thing is, he doesnt really eat anything but purees and rice puffs, so he probably would get a few crumbs, or lick it or something, he wouldnt like really eat it.

So basically, it would be something I could eat and my guests could eat, without me worrying that he might get something he shouldnt have.

So, would you do this?

I'd do it if you're pretty sure he'll just eat a tiny little bit.

I'd do it too. Are you going to frost them with anything though? We did something similar for DD's 2nd b-day. She ended up only eating the vegan (aka SOY, duh) frosting and had a reaction for the next week+. Dumb mommy moment of the year there.

Oh good, I am glad to see these responses.

I was thinking of frosting them, but I was thinking if I could do something with rice milk and powdered sugar. I dont know,so I need to look into it more.I dont know that I'll worry about frosting his though.

If what is the only new ingredient, I would def do it and consider it one of your first tests. I would also be careful not to give him anything else new. (although honestly, if he reacts to one of 2-3 new ingredients, it still isn't that difficult to figure out that I would worry for a special occasion)

Palm shortening + sugar makes good frosting. So does palm shortening/sugar/enjoy life chocolate chips. You wouldn't really need rice milk for frosting - if you need a tiny bit of liquid water should be fine, not enough to change the flavor.
