I am having contractions in my legs, is that weird or what? I don't think they are doing anything, but its nice to have a change of pace I guess.

Jennifer I hope this is it for you...sounds like you are gearing up even if those contractions weren't "it"

Brandy crossing my fingers that you go into labor before the induction starts. I wouldn't worry about your child being big. Big doesn't prevent babies being born and I know your GD has been controlled well enough that I doubt you are going to have GD problems with the baby. Stay strong and confident.

PS, maybe Holly's quiet because she is busy?

My laptop is falling apart. I can only type with one hand because I have to use the other to hold the screen up.

My mom sent a gift for Lovey. Its the entire Fisher Price Little People nativity set. SO adorable! I took it out and set it up before packing it back up and wrapping it. Since we're not getting each other gifts this year ( ) I wanted something to go under the tree.

We got snow. It's beautiful.

I can't wait for Lovey to get here, not b/c I'm miserable or anything, just b/c I WANT MY BABY!

lauren - if you're puffing and don't have high BP, try doubling your water intake. it sounds like a lot but once you get going with the water it's not hard. i've been doing nearly 2 gallons a day this past week.

i am certain that all of us with precious dog-babies will find that they will be very occupied with the new arrivals

we aren't doing anything for xmas. sold the tree when we moved cross-country 2 years ago. not going home for xmas. not doing anything, no gifts. it's kind of depressing. but i will have my own xmas present to keep me busy.

erica - i am mostly concerned that the induction on saturday will end in a c-section. i am going to go do all my labor inducing activities, but really, i've been doing all of this stuff for weeks now (i can't believe i've been on maternity leave for 4 weeks!). i don't know about those leg contractions though.... interesting? it'd be nice if i had anything going..

holly- you need duct tape!

jennifer - i am praying that you have your baby, even more than me! drink a lot (like at least half a gallon, if not more) water. 1 glass doesn't do anything if you're dehydrated/you have lower fluid. if your baby isn't moving you should go to L&D and get a nonstress test. i have been in twice - the first time i had a fluid level issue and the second time it seems like i needed food. if there's something wrong with your baby you are the best judge.

Erica - The only place I really feel contractions is in my legs! Upper thighs. It's a bit odd feeling, but apparently perfectly normal.

Sounds like everyone is getting antsy to meet their new babe. My midwife left town on Friday, and won't be back until I'm 42+1, so my care has been transfered back to our gp. I had an appointment with her today - gained two pounds and two inches (now measuring 39cm!). I am seriously alarmed at the weight gain. Not much to be done about it though, I guess. I'm still eating much the same as I always have, but my activity level has petered out due to SPD and just plain old hugeness. Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised to hear her say that she likes to delay cord clamping, and will not use drugs or cord traction in the third stage. I expect to have to fight for a lot of things if we wind up in the hospital, but it was nice to know that that won't be one of them.
This kid is going to be huge though. Huge. He dropped a few weeks ago, and is still gaining and growing. Family history says huge baby, I have a huge placenta... Oy. I don't mind the birthing part, it's just that I wanted to enjoy a *tiny* babe for a bit!

DH is indulging my "I don't feel like cooking" laziness, and we're going out for dinner. Happy. Maybe something spicy will help things along? Come OUT baby!!!!

Holly - can you prop your laptop against the wall or a book or something? Two handed typing is a good thing. Did you have to finish your novel with just one hand too?!

I have things balanced just so at the moment. But this computer has been on its last legs for a while. DH is saying we need to get me a new one next year once the student financial aid comes in. Part of me thinks: yippee, new computer that isn't so freaking slow! Another part thinks: Shouldn't it be the student, not the student's spouse that gets the new computer?

And thankfully, no, I did not have to finish the novel one handed! That would have been a nightmare!

I keep having cramps/ctxs...but nothing to indicate the real deal is happening. I know I'm still about 2 weeks from my due date, but I want this baby here now so I can start loving on her!

Thank you ladies for the vibes! I think we ALL need them...well, not those that have to do lists(Janis)...lol. No more ctx's. But I am having a lot of BH's that are very uncomfortable.

I found out that DH's mom has been calling him nagging him with ridiculous questions. Tonight I heard him raise his voice, then say he was hanging up now. She was asking what we are going to do if baby has Jaundice and some other silly questions. This is about the 3rd or 4th time she has pestered him about either the birth or the baby and what our plans are if that said thing happens. I told DH to tell her that he is an adult, and he will deal with it when and IF the time arises...it's his baby not hers. I think he wasn't telling me she's been calling bc he didn't want me to stress out about it....maybe?? I dunno. She is like this bc of her work. She works in a hospital and is so very FOR medicine and dr's. She was not happy at all when we told her we were delivering at a birthing center. I have warned DH that if she comes into OUR house telling US what to do with OUR child, I will not hesitate to tell her to leave. He loved that I said that. lol Said "good, I hope that you will stand up to her." me oh my.


Why can't family just let us live our lives the way we want?? This is why we want to move away from it all and go to Colorado or somewhere...but WE can't leave MY family. They are our rock and support. I could never imagine leaving them. Sorry..... not meaning to nag. I just needed to get it off my chest.


DH got called in. BUT...if he's there past midnight, he's going to call in tomorrow!

Is it bad that I haven't mailed out my thank you's from the baby shower back on Nov 15th?? I'm mailing them this weekend....that's still ok isn't it?????


Lets see who can go into labor and have a baby for us by tomorrow......GO!

Janis...I just had to comment about shaving! I was pondering if I should too. B/c I don't...well sometimes in summer..but this is near winter now So I doubt I will as well. Not like it will freak out the mw, right?

LemonJuice - DH laughs at me because I will get a wild hair and shave once every few months, and he just never knows when or why til he gets into bed. I reach a point where I don't like the raggedy pathetic hairy legs ... I have shaved maybe twice since June (usually when I'm horny ). I can't picture any MW who might care that we have hairy legs!! We're all hippies here.

Well, I've done enough work for a week today. This morning, I went to the tile store and paid for the tile ... tile guy starting tomorrow! yay! He ***must*** be done by Friday. DH bought the backer board and some other random supplies on his way home from work today. We'll have to figure out how to get the grout and a couple more things tomorrow - along with going to the birth class. eek. I need to find out if I have a babysitter!

Then, I went to the chiropractor. Just like last week, the relief was short lived, though. I have already done too much, and my back hurts again.

Then, I spent the afternoon washing as many clothes as I possibly could. Our washer/dryer will be disconnected for 3 days - as well as my toilet. YIKES. We have a second bathroom, but it's UPSTAIRS. I go upstairs maybe once a week these days! I'm seriously considering a chamber pot (too bad I don't have a kid-potty ...). Our handyman came over to remove 3 pocket doors that will be in the way - he's good at what he does, but I had to help him figure out how to get them out! So, I didn't get a nap today. After dinner, we removed the last of the stuff that's in the way - I put away as much as I could from the kitchen counters, relocated our dining table to the living room, removed pictures from the walls of my bathroom, emptied a closet that's part of the project, finished with laundry ...

All that, and I even made dinner - mushroom barley soup ! mmm

Well, the Biscuit is making my belly go all wonky now - I'm going to miss this when it is born. Of course, now that I'm all comfy, the dryer stopped .... do I get up and do laundry and come back, or do I finish this and then go to bed? .................... my bladder won out over the common sense. Laundry has been restarted, and I'm back in front of the computer. This is the last load, and then DH needs to move the machines. I wonder what we're going to find behind them ???

OK. Time to quit typing.

In the land of lots of BH's and a very uncomfy abdomen! Holy crap is it sore! It's so weird feeling for the past couple days and BH's have kicked up considerably... though part of me thinks I'm a freak because I'm finding them very fascinating and am semi enjoying them because I am learning their waves and it is making me feel like I am really preparing for birth. lol

I felt like such utter crap yesterday because I was up more than half the night with these more intense new BH's... but then work surprised me with a baby shower! I cried! It was really needed after feeling so miserable that morning! lol

And I have to just say I am sooo loving my DH right now. He has been such a rock and is dealing with my whining very well lately. lol

WARNING: skip ahead to next paragraph if you live anywhere north of Dallas ... it's 35 degrees this morning and raining. Everyone is whining. DH is stuck somewhere waiting for his car to get towed, then he's coming back home to figure out transportation. Our cars run on biodiesel, which gets solid in the cold weather. DH is a weather geek, so he should have known better and gotten some "regular" diesel to top off the tank, but OOPS. My car is the same, so I won't be going anywhere today (not that I want to).

Janis - I LOVE the tile work on that vanity! It is gorgeous!

My news for the day - I was feeling kind of crappy yesterday, a bit nauseous last night and sure enough in the middle of the night, puked hardcore. Ugh. Now I still feel like crap this am. DS puked in the middle of the night on Friday night but was otherwise not seeming too sick. So I wonder if I have whatever he had then. I'm starving, but I'm afraid to eat anything! So I'm having a cup of miso soup.

This is probably why baby's not here yet. Maybe when I'm over this bug, he/she will arrive! I do have my 40 week mw appt today, so we'll make a day (or half a day) out of it and do some shopping and maybe a trip to the kid's museum. It's 45 min away.

i'm starting to get frustrated seeing all the first time moms with EDDs well after mine had all their kids a week ago. WAH. (but still delighted for them!)

i've had some BHs, but they are so far from intense. i am supposed to take the dvds back to blockbuster today but i'd sooo rather be in labor than drive somewhere.

I live north of Dallas and it didn't rain here, just cold...28 felt like 15. Mom lives a little further east than me, and no rain. And have family that live north of me a bit and no rain. HMM...Where did it say it was raining? It rained like cats and dogs the night before though. Interesting.

it's been dreery and rainy in Houston yesterday & today ... the cold makes it so much worse. I don't mind rain, but this is yucky.

And, DH car is definitely broken down. He can't fix it til at the earliest this weekend. So, he wants to rent a car. I don't want him to because I have no intention or desire to GO anywhwere. He's worried about leaving me home, pregnant and carless, but I'm not worried. I think I am winning the argument, though.

Sara - thanks. We love our bathroom, too! It's a mexican tile with coordinating sink & mirror. We designed the bathroom around the sink. The new floor is a natural 'stone' porcelain tile in a light tan, that I think coordinates with it well. I'm nervous and excited all at the same time!

I had my GBS test, and it came back negative! : The only thing is, LO's heartbeat keeps getting higher and higher. It was up in my ribs at my appointment Two weeks ago, it was down almost by my pubic bone. I don't know what is going on, and my OB didn't say anything. I'm starting to get nervous.

I took my Comp final today, I know I didn't do well, I missed all of last week's classes, so I don't know what we/they were going over. I also have to do my paper... She's going to give me an "incomplete" which will give me 2 weeks after next semester starts to turn it in. (I was *hoping* I would be able to still pass w/o doing it, as I've never passed a paper in my entire schooling career, but nope.) I don't know when my other finals are/were, and since I didn't have the car... I won't know my grades for a couple of weeks probably, but I was doing fairly well, so we shall see.

I think I've been having some BH contractions, but nothing to get excited about. A lot of shooting pains down there, but I have no idea if that means anything. We're officially past when I wanted LO to stay in (I would rather he waits until closer to my EDD, but if not, I don't mind that much.) It's so exciting, every day I sign on, and we have had tons of our babies! This morning I logged on, and there were 5 birth announcements! Crazy! (But good too : )

i had shooting sensations the week before last and i think that was the dilation.

you could have a weird placenta that makes it harder to find the heartbeat. my placenta is anterior, so although baby is totally head down (confirmed by US just yesterday) when I get my NSTs done the monitors get plopped at the top of my belly, near my ribs. it's just easier to hear there because that's where the fluid is and placenta/baby isn't.

i bought the castor oil. considering maybe using a tsp. i tried a topical application and it sure did make my skin impervious to water! (i left it on for an hour while i did some hypnobabies)

the one thing i regret not getting during this pregnancy is a belly support. i think the lack of lift on my belly might be holding baby up so i tied it up (loosely! not constricting at all) with my moby wrap. yes, i am reaching but it's good to try everything!

back to ball bouncing. too dark to go on another walk.

is it normal to get that cold in texas? i have an interview in san antonio in january. i thought it was supposed to be toasty!

Janis - my family lives North of Houston and they've had snow! My little brother called me just now because he was so excited. They'll probably shut down the whole city tomrrow. Heehee! I miss TEXAS!!!!! Oh and you are my hero because you get so much done!! I still need to clean my house!! We have friends coming over this weekend so now I really have to get it done!

I think it turned out really well thanks to some craigslist deals, presents, and lots of Target gift cards!! Which reminds me, I haven't gotten all my thank-you's done yet either! Yikes!!
Tomorrow I'm going to a gathering of a nursing mom's group I joined in my area, I'm excited to meet some nursing moms! It will be great to have a support system up here.

People are starting to answer their phone really excitedly when we call, its kind of funny. Still have another 10 days for my due date. I'm feeling very chill and calm about it all, just a great sense of peace and happiness about meeting our daughter. It's so cool that people in our DDC are having babies!! It's really happening!! Waa-hoo! So exciting!!
