Update -- No longer an Ectopic Pregnancy - I'm Out

Started showing light brown spotting on Friday and has gradually turned to red.

Went in for an ultrasound today.
No baby sac.
They're pretty sure it's ectopic. Midwife is scheduling an appointment for the hospital tomorrow to get checked again and to get medication to pass it.
If I can't pass it with meds, I'll need surgery.

Not really sure how to break it to DS as he has been very excited to be a big brother.

I wish happy, healthy pregnancies for the rest of you!

I am so sorry. s. How old is your ds? My dd is 6 and I had to tell her today that her auntie lost her baby that she was due with in June and I told her that the baby didn't develop in the right way and that they may decide to try again, but this baby wasn't going to be born.

Because she doesn't really understand a baby growing inside anyway her reaction was rather subdude. Kind of like "well, ok" and that was about it.
;
again I am sorry for your loss s

aww

DD and DS were both very excited when my future s-i-l became pregnant with twins in july, it would be their first close cousins... but then she miscarried in late august and I had to explain it to them... my 3 year old didnt care but DS who will be 6 soon, had a bunch of questions about why. I answered them the best I can but some even I didn't know the answers to (and I told him so)

I'm so sorry. My first was an ectopic pregnancy with a rush surgery and I lost a fallopian tube as well. Hugs to you and your family.

I'm so very sorry.
I'm glad you are okay, ectopics can be quite dangerous.

I'm so sorry.

I'm confused, though - why do they say "ectopic" just because they don't see the sac? Do they see the baby on/in the tubes? I've never dealt with that.

That's got to be so disheartening. ((hugs))

I'm very sorry... I hope things go easily for you and surgery isn't necessary.

For your son, I'm afraid I have no advice, alot depends on his age.

He's nearly 4, so I'm hoping he has the same reaction as the children you mentioned.
I was nervous about it because he has been talking about the "pea baby" every single day and "checking on the growing" of my belly.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. There was no sac in my uterus. They saw what they though was a sac in my fallopian tube.
