Over the past couple of years, Facebook has been taking down breastfeeding pictures- considering them "obscene." I, myself, have had 2 pictures removed in the past month- and I think one more will get my account deleted.

The Facebook Group, "Back to Hey, Facebook, breastfeeding is not obscene!(Official petition to Facebook)" is planning a nurse-in at FB HQ on the 27th of December. The tentative time is from 11am-2pm. If that changes, I'll let you all know. The nurse-in will be at 156 University Ave, in Palo Alto, CA. There's a bus stop right there- we'll be meeting there.

Please pass this on to your friends and people who you think will be interested! And if you can, please attend!

And we're working on informing media contacts- if anyone has experience in planning nurse-ins and has some tips, please share!

Cool, I will actually be in Palo Alto visiting my in-laws. I wonder what my MIL would say, who thinks this whole extended nursing thing is really, really weird, when I tell her where we're going.

But I looked on the group's page on facebook and couldn't find any information. Plus there's a nice nursing picture that is apparently not being taken down -- so are we sure it's current policy?

Aw, we recently just moved from that area. My husband got deployed so we went with. Yeah, that facebook thing was bugging me too. Good luck and have fun, mamas!

Facebook will take down the photos if someone reports it- there are BFing pictures on Facebook because no one has reported them (yet). I've had 2 removed since the beginning of November.

I'm planning it over the holidays because I'll be there visiting my in-laws, but my MIL is very pro-breastfeeding (she told her sons that BFing was a requirement for future wives when they were growing up ).

Are their offices even open on Saturdays?

I wish I was BFing, I'd come out in a second.

Schedule and jet-lag permitting, I'll be there, although we're not nursing that much. And I'll try to bring my SIL who is nursing her 4 month old. Thanks for organizing!

Front page?! Excellent coverage. Wish I was in California right now (for so many reasons) so I could join you. I hope your event is well-attended.
Anyone else not surprised FB had no comment?
