what happens? - Page 2

No one has brought up what happened a year ago in Maryland, when noncompliant parents and kids were rounded up at the court house and catch up vaxes were given. That's one example of what could happen, though that was on a much larger scale than just one family who neither vaxes nor files for exemption.

OK, just to be clear the article did not state that this actually happened.

It's a poorly written article ... Maryland offers exemptions, and nowhere is that even mentioned. I suspect that most of these parents filed for exemption rather than have their kids jabbed. If anyone knows of a follow up article I'd love to see it. This one simply paints non-vaxers as irresponsible lawbreakers who need a "tough love" education.

parents will be lectured to by Circuit Court Judge Philip Nichols Jr. on the necessity of vaccination.

"When we bring children into the world, responsibilities go with that. These parents have had ample opportunities. The vaccine is available. They could have organized to do this. So shame on them,"
This one's a REAL gem.

Nichols said that by working with the school board on this issue, he hopes it will teach the students lifelong lessons about the importance of staying in school and the importance of preventing bad habits -- the kind that would send them back to the courts -- from forming.
How the *F* is naturally occurring disease a BAD HABIT, exactly? :

And they think that we're the uneducated ones.

Right, the whole thing was a mess. And I do remember no coverage of it mentioned exemptions being an available option. That maybe wasn't the best article to cite, but it was the first one I found. I made reference to it thinking most people here remembered what happened. Poor assumption.

My family lives in that area and from what my sil told me these were parents that had vaxed in the past, but never took the time to get the boosters. Meaning they weren't even looking for an exemption. They were for vaxes, but just didn't take the time to get the boosters. There may have been other parents lumped in with that that did not vax, but again that is my understanding from my sil. That being said, I don't agree with it and the article makes me sick. I personally think it's a scare tatic though for us that don't vaccinate to say, hey look at this if you don't vaccinate you will be taken to court and fined or worse. Again though my understanding is that was not the case.
I should also say that my sil was working in the school system in Fairfax county so she wasn't just a resident of the area. If anyone else has a different thought on it please share. I'm just going off what she said.
