Any VBAC mommies here?

I am going for a HBVAC this time after a craptastic first "failed" homebirth 48 hour labor with no dilation to speak of. There are a lot of issues around a VBAc and I would love to connect with other mommies who are going through this too. We can do it!

Me!!!:

I'm having issues though, dh isn't really on board with a homebirth(and we can't really afford it), we thought we had the option of this great hospital that has birthing tubs and a really comfy labor/delivery area, but I found out this morning that they don't allow waterbirth VBACs. : See my thread about it here. I really want a waterbirth, so I'm kinda feeling like ripping my hair out right now. I just wish there was a simple solution....

I am hoping for a VBAC this time too. My water broke and after almost 48 hours I never dialted past 1 and ended up with a C-section. Really hoping for a different outcome this time.

Wow. that is what happened to me too! No dialation past two I think. Have you found any reason for your not dilating?

My husband is wishy washy about home birthing this one two since his guy brain says "just get the baby out, obviously if it didn't work before then it wont work now". But we talked about it and he knows that ultimately its my body, my decisions. Right now he says that he will be waiting in the car the whole time. We decided he may not be the right birth partner for me this time.

As far as payment goes. Can you find a midwife to trade at all? Even trading for part of it could help right. For me, I called my excellent insurance and found out the hospital would cost 5,000 !!! But the homebirth 2,500! and she is willing to trade! God I love her!

One of the major problems with VBAC here is the total lack of options and of course everyone seems to feel so strongly against the other choice that it really leaves us ( the mommies) scared for both outcomes and having to fight both ways. That is how I feel anyway.

I did a VBAC too
The docs at the hospital were very unfriendly- my regular doc was away.

The C-sec, my water broke 8 weeks early , the VBAC guy came at 35 weeks

I really dont give my vote to HB, because I had too many issues goign on, but most of you may not have any of those.
Still with all my complications, and with the docs thinking I was crazy, I did VBAC

I plan to VBAC with a group of midwives who have privleges at a hosptial that is about 40 miles from where I live. Hope all our VBAC dreams come true!!

Thorn- Do you have any successful advice for what worked so well with you?

I am trying another home birth and changing my birth partner and planning a more fun atmosphere for sure. Any other tidbits?

A supportive careprovider is a must, IMO. And a doula (I had a hospital birth).

I joined my local ICAN chapter which was really life changing for me.

I exercised daily and tried to eat healthy because I wanted to be in good physical shape for the birth and also hopefully avoid some of the issues that led me down the road to my first c/s (hypertension, bedrest, breech)

I definitely think that the labor team is definitely one of the most important things though - making sure you are with people that you trust, and people who aren't going to put arbitrary limits on your labor, and aren't going to undermine your confidence.
