Girl dies. Authorities suspect meningitis.

I heard this news report early this morning on TV, but haven't seen an article on it anywhere.

Has anyone else heard about it, and does anyone have more info? I'm curious to know if she was vaccinated.

The story I heard is that a girl at a Stratford school (pre-school/daycare) died. Meningitis is suspected, but not confirmed (according to the report I heard).

This happened in Los Gatos, California.

update...

just found this:

Quote:
The 4-year-old girl who was found dead in her Santa Cruz County home Monday did not die of the contagious, lethal bacteria that can cause meningitis, but most likely of another bacteria that is easily fought off by most children, health officials said today.
Quote:
Only 100 children a year die in the United States of this infection, she said, which is "highly unusual."
I hate to be so cynical, but if 100 children die each year, shouldn't we have a vax for it?

We probably will. And I suspec this is BECAUSE of the meningitis or Hib or one of the other bacterial vaccines.
