Isn't it already illegal?

Seriously?

If it is illegal to alter a girls genitals in any way shape or form since 1996...and the 14 amendment of the US constitution provides equal protection under the law...

Wouldn't that automatically make male genital mutilation illegal?

Yes, that completely reasonable and sound logic seems to escape everyone

Also, looking at international human rights and child rights, one reasonable, logical person would conclude that parents do not have a right to consent to such procedures.

Agreed... I think its the medical establishment stating that it has medical bennifits... even though it isn't based on anything, they are creating a grey area. But cut and dry... There isn't anything wrong with the child, they are born perfect, and to cut for no reason is violation of that childs rights.

I was on the other side of seeing things at one point... never really thought about it... but the medical doc. made it sound like if I didn't circ. my son would live with horrible infections his entire life... they made it sound like if I didn't now, he would have to when he was older and for what.... because I didn't choose to now. I did... but because of bad advice, from someone who would know these things... (wrong)... Make a change in the opinions of Doc. and eventually it will be weeded out, and hopefully be made illegal.

makes sense to me...and didn't Obama study constitutional law?

They use freedom of religion as the umbrella under which to protect male circ though.

That certainly wouldn't cover mutilations performed in a hospital setting though.

No question this is a double standard of staggering proportion.
