I feel so bad..

I have been dairy free for about a week, as DD has some eczema patches and had a contact reaction to some cheese. I had cleared my eczema up with topical steroids (last time ever. I wanted to start trying to figure out causes from a 'clean slate' IFYWIM).

Yesterday I ate some cheese. Lots of it. Im so weak. And this morning I wake up and my eczema is back a bit on my hands and DD's eczema is red again. Maybe even spread a little bit more. And all because I couldnt control myself. Im gonna throw all dairy out of the house. If DP wants it he can keep it at work. I feel so terrible.

I'm waiting on results from DD's RAST test for milk protein this week. And I go for skin prick tests for ingested allergens tomorrow.

I would love to eliminate the top 8 from mine and DD's diet but I cant even seem to keep away from cheese!

Does anyone have any tips?

1. Don't buy it and you can't eat it.
2. When you go out, bring snacks with you so you won't feel tempted.
3. Make some dairy free treats for yourself so you won't be tempted.
4. Take a picture of the bad eczema and whenever you feel the impulse to cheat, look at the picture (put it on/in the fridge if you want).
5. For me, it's back pain (found out when I went on the diet for my kids' sake). I remember me laying on ice or throwing up for hours because of the pain and believe me, I don't cheat.

Also, even if the spt test comes back negative, it doesn't mean that milk isn't the cause. Intolerances can cause eczema too. Corn is my DD2's worst food reaction (used to be eczema, now it's "folliculitis") and it showed up negative on skin (IgE) tests and on intolerance (IgG) tests.

The previous poster had great advice. I'm just popping in to add my experience. I used to love cheese but cut dairy out completely and I have to say that it completely repulses me now. It took a few months, I think, but every day was easier. Cravings change dramatically once you take the food completely away for a while.

I had a hard time doing without gluten and dairy, I wanted my old comfort foods so bad. It took a while, probably more than 6 months, but I cheated, and ya know, they didn't taste nearly as good as I remembered. I think my experience of eating those foods was really colored by my body not dealing with those foods well, and after I'd been away a while and started some healing, I found they were just foods, like any other.
