Favorite house interiors in movies??

There are a few movies that I can watch again & again for the interiors:

Amelie
The Holiday (that British cottage?!)
PS I Love You

I don't even really like romantic comedies, but I love the interiors, haha.

How 'bout you?

Interesting question! Tony Shalhoub's home in the tv show Monk immediately comes to mind. The walls are all painted complimentary colors of sage and sky blue and mustard yellow, with precise, clean white door and window trim. The house is all decked out in Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel-esque style. I admire it every time we watch it.

Emma Thompson mentioned the paint job and curtains inside the cottage during the director's comments for Sense and Sensibility. So ever since I've admired the beautiful gray-blue paint and sheer curtains blowing in the breeze whenever I've watched the movie.

The first thing that came to mind for me was Susan Sarandon's crazy little house in Bull Durham. I haven't seen the movie in years, but I remember it as being very bright and full of interesting objects.

Oh, great question! The one I've seen recently that really got me was Ghost Town -- the woman Ricky Gervais gets involved with has this spectacular apartment, full of rich colors, huge built-in booksheves, and interesting art.

I also love the interiors in Woody Allen movies. Obviously, I'm pretty drawn to movie rooms with lots and lots of books ...

Home Alone and Christmas Vacation.

I love the English cottage in The Holiday as well.

What Lies Beneath. Horrible movie, amazing house.

I love the house in The Family Stone!

Yeah to both what lies beneath and family stone

Also, I loved the houses in sleeping with the enemy- the big, cold all glass beach house and the cozy, warm little cottage.

Steel magnolias- at the christmas party- that house seemed like it would be fun to grow up in with a lot of people

The Nanny McPhee house with all of its crazy greens

not that I like this house, but when Celie cleans her house in the Color Purple (the part where she starts washing the walls, and finds nice wallpaper under the dirt) makes me feel like cleaning, so I always have that image in my head when I deep clean.

Wow, I guess I pay a lot of attention to interiors in films and TV. Who'd have thunk??

Not a movie, but my favorite house ever is the pink Victorian in Charmed. Love it. I just love that style of house. I found one sooo close to it in my town, for sale, but it was out of our price range.

oooh, yes. I like Buffy's house on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series, too. A nice big Craftsman (that apparently is affordable for a single mother trying to launch an art gallery ... I guess having a Hellmouth in the neighborhood really depresses real-estate prices!).

I love that style too. Joan's house in Joan of Arcadia is the same way.

The craftsman house in Zathura is a standout. I also loved the interior of the apartment in The Breakup even though the movie sucked.

The aunt's house in Practical Magic. Number one.

The houses in What Lies Beneath, Home Alone, The Amityville Horror ( old version) the little house in Sleeping with the Enemy, the little house with all the booby traps in Enough, the trailer house and then the house she builds in Where the Heart Is.

Apartments in Manhatten Murder Mystery, Hannah and Her Sisters and Bed or Roses ( his apartment as it gets cozier.)

I thought I was the only person who paid so much attention to interiors in movies...and there are some movies I will watch over and over, not just for the story but because of the interiors.

I know I am forgetting some.

The Bennet's house in the BBC production of Pride and Prejudice.
