No, MIL and the kids had left, I figure it was about 5 minutes after they were gone that he was born.
Yes, it was nice it was so quick, but it was so intense! I really could hardly get through the contractions, and they were nearly right on top of each other.
I think it would've been easier for me if I had been more rested, but I was so exhausted; it was all I could do a couple of times around 12-1:00 not to totally freak out and start bawling because I was too tired to deal with labor!
I thought it would help to get some rest in bed between contractions, but in retrospect it wasn't a good idea; I kept drifting off and when I'd have to wake for a contraction I would start shivering uncontrollably because my body was trying to shut down for a whole night's sleep.
So this was my fastest (if you don't count the early 6 hours of contractions), but I would definitely say that DS2 was my "best" birth.
Mid-morning on a sunny early September day, my Mom and DH were there and we were talking and laughing, waterbirth, and I could have the windows open after for nice warm fresh air. Much more relaxed.
But as hard as it was I wouldn't change it, it was such a great experience to have just DH and I there. It was really cool.
