I would like your imput about this little 'project'...

I am (for what it's worth) going to send that ped I took my DS to (once and only once) some information in the mail about how wrong, sick, messed up and totally unnecessary and cruel circumcision is. N E way, what I would like is some suggestions as to what info I send to this guy. He was typical mainstream type, vax, etc. And he does not know about intact babies. I would like to send him one or two pages of info on circumcision, what do you think I should include? I was thinking maybe including the Hippocratic oath of 'do no harm' as well as info on babies heightened perception of pain, as well as changing their brain chemistry. I just hope that this guy would actually read it and not have it intercepted by the secretary (who would probably throw it away, you never know). Maybe I should mark it 'For Dr ___ eyes only', and/or 'personal and confidential'.

Whaddya think? Thank you in advance for advice/input!

I would definitely put in something about how it is not recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
I bet the website for Doctors Opposing Circumcision would have some good info for you. http://www.doctorsopposingcircumcision.org/

Personally, I think you should not include any information that critisizes him as a doctor. Like the hippocratic oath is probably a bad idea. If you want this guy to learn anything your going to have to send straight info. Studies you think he has not read, information about the foreskin and natural foreskin development. Also comments from his peers on the subject is VERY important, really that will probably be the only point of view he will respect, and actually process.

why doesn't the hippocratic oath stop doctors from doing it? i would be tempted to send that... but agree with pp.. don't put it in there.. it will just encourage him to shut down completely... plus its a tad passive aggressive since you can be fairly sure he already knows it lol

Perspective and 1littleBit, you are right..quoting the hippocratic (or in this case would it be hippocritic oath?) would be a bad idea. I think I will print out this one 'quiz' I got from doctorsopposingcircumcision, as well as a list of recommended books about the topic and some article about how the AAP doesn't recommend circumcision. (Ironically the one 'question' asks if a doc performing circ is violating the hippocratic oath!)

Latinalonestar, I may indeed send that doc that Paul Fleiss wrote, it's a bit long but hopefully he will read it! :

That is awesome that your doctor is against circumcision because of that article! Hopefully he refuses to perform them as well. :

Please, everyone, pray that he reads these.

I am hesitant to include internet links only because some doctors scoff at information gleaned from the internet, never mind if it is correct and up to date (unlike some medical textbooks-HA!).

Thank you everyone for your excellent input! I'm going to start printing out some stuff now. Let me know if you have further suggestions, I'm not going to mail this right away, so I'll check back to see what you all have to say, if anything.
