Can anyone help me w/ NC custody laws???

Me, husband, and kids have lived in NC for about 2 yrs. If I left out of state, could I take the kids, or does he gets parental rights b/c he's staying in the home state?


Reason I'm wondering is B/C-
(A few yrs. ago, I knew a family who was breaking up, the mother was moving out of state, and couldn't take her DD B/C she was a citizen of the father's state.And the Father had gotten in trouble w/ the law over drugs and he still got to keep the little girl till there was a formal hearing.)


Anyone been through it or know the laws well???

Did you ask over in the single parent forum? There are some lawyers on there and lots of moms who've been through custody stuff all over the country (world!)....
