I'm not going to make it to my EDD

My EDD has been put at Dec. 27 and Jan 2 or 4th. I wasn't charting, we weren't really paying any attention, we were more or less TTC by not actively preventing...

Anyways... had a MW appointment yesterday, first internal and she SHOCKED me saying aI was already 80% effaced and 3 cms. dilated.

Now, I know I walked around at 100% and 2-3 cms with DD1. So I get that it could still be weeks. But hot dang! I can't get my head around the idea that this is going to be a BEFORE-Christmas baby, not after!

Every little movement she does has made me wonder, is this it? Oh, no, she's just kicking. OK.

I've had some increased discharge (Sorry, TMI, but what isn't in a DDC, right?) but still no BH or anything. Never felt any with DD1.

Guess I need to start reading up on the signs of early labor, huh?

Packed my hospital bag and DD's over night bag last night. Scary.

I'm not ready for this yet!

It's crazy sometimes isn't it? I was taking my prenatal pills last night and just started laughing at the very notion that there is going to be a tiny little baby here soon... it still seems very dreamlike and far away... but in reality... I'm due in 3 weeks, my MW seriously beleives this baby wants out in December... I have been plagued with very intense low and crampy BH's contractions for several hours everynight this week....

Ladies... we are going to be holding babies soon!!! :

So why does it still seem so completely surreal? lol Does it feel anymore real once they are here? Or is it still "OMG, I'm holding a baby, how did this happen?" lol

I have to admit, I'm kinda jealous. Not that I want mine early, just...you know. My EDD can't get here fast enough! For me, it's a mix of excitement and extreme pregnancy fatigue. Patience, my little grasshopper? Ha! To me, that's just crazy talk. Still, I must cultivate a new identity: zen master. He will arrive when he arrives. No sooner and no later (although I'd like him to know that the end of December will be perfectly fine by me).

This is number 2 for me, and yeah, it gets more real pretty soon afterbirth. Birth takes a lot our of you, no matter how "easy" or "rough" it is, I think. Drugs or not, back labor or now, euphoria or not, your body is doing a lot of work.

Once you get past the physical issues, the baby BEING HERE is still kind of a lot to wrap your head around!

Don't get too upset though if the baby stays. I've had a good handful of clients be the same as you, even one at 75% and 5cm for weeks and went over due with their 2nd babies. Just a weird thing.

That's pretty reassuring, HallieLynn.

But, well, things are "happening," you know?

And with DD1, I went from never even feeing a BH to baby in 2 hours (lowest possible dose Pitocin induced).

I would be thinking the same thing... and would be on edge about my water breaking at any second. Good luck... maybe she'll hang in there another two weeks.

Yknow, I've been thinking about you all day and it all seemed so familiar. Then I remembered with DD when she at about this time flipped breech and I freaked out. I got her to turn around again but man it wasn't comfortable!

I saw a MW that same day, just to make sure things were ok and I was at 2cm and 75% effaced. DD didn't arrive until 42 weeks. By the end, I could have sworn that I could feel her head every time I sat down, but no labor. Once my water broke though, things moved pretty quickly and smoothly.

That said, given my eventful night last night, I have a chux pad on the floor by my bed. Last time I lucked out and when my water broke I stepped on a pile of laundry but I've been better about that lately.

you're still in my thoughts, full moon and all. I wonder if mine isn't going to be a new moon baby....

Yep. This is why no internal exams for me this time until I'm in seriously active labor. With my first baby, I didn't get an internal until 41 weeks, and was "encouraged" that I was 100% effaced and 2 cm dilated.

I went another 12 days

So. . .I figure as a 2nd timer, I'll probably walk around at a 7 with a bulging bag of water for a month this time

Oh I know that happens too! Just wanted to throw out what I've seen on the flip side of the coin! I've seen women pack their bags and practically wait when they heard they were 1cm at an appt, and its very stressful to them, thinking labor was at any moment. I know curiosity to getting to me to see if things are "happening" since this baby is really low and I've had a lot of BH over the pst few weeks, since everything with DD started well into the labor, it was just so slow. I'm really hopeful this labor won't be the same, and I KNOW VE tell us nothing about when labor will be begin, but it can be exciting to know the body is at least starting the process, the first 3 cms took 24 hours for me to achieve, so there would be something, in the back of my mind that would be pleased to be checked and see I was 2-3 :P

And then last night and today, nothing. Comfortable, no cramping/contrax/whatever, jhust feeling fine and normal and could go for another month. We'll see!
