This was it, all right! I had little bits of bloody show all day 1/24 and 1/25, with some cramping and a few mild contractions, but no real labor pattern. Felt a little leakage around 4:30 PM 1/25, called my midwife, who suggested chicken soup, a shot of vodka, and immediate bedtime. (I hadn't slept much at all the night of the 24th.) I complied, fell asleep -- and woke up around midnight with what felt like my first "real" contraction. Five minutes later I was in transition, screaming at my husband to CALL THE MIDWIFE. By the time she arrived, at around 1:00 AM, I was 8-9 centimeters, and I pushed my baby girl out at 3:27 AM. It was completely insane. Good thing I planned a homebirth, because there's no way I would have made it to the hospital. (Contractions came right on top of each other from start to finish -- I wasn't going ANYWHERE.)

Baby Ruby is asleep on my chest and all is well.
