I have never read the study you mention, so PLEASE SHARE if you would )

The incidence of H. influenzae in breast-fed infants, mixed-fed infants and formula-fed infants was 0, 0 and 7.0% respectively. CONCLUSION: The results suggest that the colonization of H. influenzae in the throat was inhibited by the presence of breast milk."

Dd had the first round of shots at 4 mos and had a slight fever that evening, with some crankiness and sleepiness. She had the second round at 9 mos and the following day still had a fever over 100, which lasted all day, into the night. She cried without stopping anytime she was not being held, and when she tried to crawl, she would stop after 3 steps and lay down and cry. The MD said there wasn't any greater chance of reaction to later shots, but we didn't care to test that statement.
